Our June meeting will feature the six Republican candidates running for Scottsdale City Council. This format will be a combination of questions for the whole group and individual questions based on each candidate's campaign statements.


There are 3 seats open. We all need to consider what we want for Scottsdale over the next four years and listen carefully to each candidate. You may send questions to me for the group or a specific candidate at michaljoyner@gmail.com.


While we will do our best to highlight every candidate, I believe each of us should make the effort to hear the candidates on numerous occasions.

In addition, Kim George and Robert Backie will be speaking. They are challenging David Schweikert for the US House Seat. David will speak in July as his schedule did not accommodate our June luncheon schedule. Please send me any questions you wish to be asked of them.

We will also hear from two candidates for County Board of Supervisors in District 3 - Tabatha Lavoie and Kate Brophy McGee. To clarify, Michelle Ugenti Rita is running for District 2 along with Thomas Galvin. Our membership lives in both of these Districts, and sometimes it’s hard to keep them straight.

With ten candidates speaking, I will not be reading their bios at the microphone as it would eat into their valuable allotted time. So please read all the bios before you attend the meeting. They are all unique and have amazing backgrounds that can’t necessarily be highlighted in a ten-minute segment. Most of the candidates arrive early, and I know they would love to meet and chat with you. Please get to know them.

In June, we will not be collecting items. Instead, we will be supporting the Young Republicans who will be selling raffle tickets for six baskets to raise money for the great work they do.
