Get Ready for the 2023 Fall Season!

We hope you're all enjoying your summer festivities! Although it's still beach and BBQ season, fall football is just around the corner! Believe it or not, we're just two and a half weeks away from our New Player Orientation, QB clinic, Fall Season Draft, and Meet Your Team Party!

Read below for important details about the Fall Season.

QB Clinic and New Player Orientation - Sat, Aug 19

Two important events are quickly approaching! Our Quarterback Clinic and New Player Orientation will be held on Saturday, August 19 (timing TBD) - mark your calendars!

QB Clinic (160-168 Monroe St, Warwick, RI 02888)

If you're interested in playing quarterback this season, we strongly encourage you to attend the QB clinic. This is an opportunity to show the captains what you can do! Any player, new or returning, who wants to play QB this season is encouraged to attend this clinic. Please wear non-metal cleats and pocketless shorts and be sure to bring water and sunscreen. Exact timing will be communicated early next week.

New Player Orientation (160-168 Monroe St, Warwick, R 02888)

Immediately following our QB clinic, we'll start our New Player Orientation. All new players are strongly encouraged to attend Orientation. This important event is your opportunity to meet this season's captains and other new players, learn football basics, talk through our league's rules, get coaching tips on position-specific technique, and scrimmage with other new players. All players must wear non-metal cleats and pocketless shorts. These are league requirements and are vital for player safety! You will not be allowed to play if you have metal cleats or your shorts have pockets. Please also remember to bring sunscreen and water.

Timing for both of these events is still being finalized and will be communicated next week via email and our Facebook group.

Volunteer Referee Training

This year, we're launching a volunteer referee program for anyone who wants to help with one of our most important gameday positions. Training will take place immediately before New Player Orientation. After completing the Referee 101 training course, you'll get a chance to put your new skills to the test at our New Player Orientation Scrimmage. Please contact Red McSwiggan (Red@pvdgffl.org) if you're interested in refereeing during the season. Please note, that you can referee even if you're also registered as a player. You'll be scheduled to referee games during time slots when your team is not playing.

Meet Your Team and Season Kickoff Party

If you're new to our league, you might be asking, "How do I find out what team I'm on?" The answer? Come to our Kickoff Party!

The captains of all 14 teams will unveil their rosters at our Meet Your Team and Season Kickoff Party on Sunday, August 20th, at Providence GPub (100 Dorrance St, Providence, RI 02903). Come find out which team you've been drafted to, meet your new teammates and captains, and celebrate the start of another great season!

This event is for registered players and registered athletic supporters (sorry, we cannot admit guests or waitlisted players).

2023 Fall Season Captains

This season we'll have 210 players across 14 teams. Below are the superstars who will lead those teams! No matter which team you end up on, you're sure to have a great time!

2023 PVD Lobsters Non-Player Supporter Jersey

Help us raise money for our Gay Bowl tournament teams by purchasing these awesome supporter jerseys, which include panels from all of our tournament teams, our PVDGFFL and PVD Lobsters logos on the front, and sponsors on the back. Thank you, Red, for this incredible design, which not only looks amazing, but also captures the heart, spirit, and unity of our league.

The deadline to order a jersey is Friday, Sept 22. Jersey cost is $45.

Board Announcements

We're currently looking to fill the Director of Field Operations position on our PVDGFFL Board of Directors. We're also looking for Committee Members to help with events, fundraising, volunteerism, health & safety, and more. Free First Aid and CPR Training

Our Health & Safety Committee is excited to offer an opportunity for league members to receive free First Aid and CPR training. Join us at our football fields on Sunday, August 13 from 10am-2pm for this free course. After completing the course, you'll be certified in First Aid and CPR for two years.
