Yarns of Love

Yarns of Love have been busy crocheting. Twenty hand-made baby blankets were donated this week to the Baby Bundles project, an annual effort to provide for newborns of junior-enlisted families at Fort Liberty. Every year, around 2,000 babies are born to these families. Baby Bundles is a way to help these young families and to show appreciation for their service to our county.

Yarns of Love members are also making Prayer Shawls, Prayer Cloths, and their newest project, small blankets for the Cradle Ministry.

Contact Debbie Schumm to learn more about Yarns of Love.

Open Table

The Open Table Movement was born from one church’s chance encounter with a homeless man in 2005. Today it is a nationally trained model equipping faith and other organizations to transform communities through sustainable, long-term relationships with people experiencing economic and/or relational poverty. The Open Table model gives community members a way to invest their own social and relational capital in the lives of others to help them achieve the better lives they envision for themselves.

A “Table” is 4-8 volunteers working alongside an individual or family in need for approximately one year. Together with the “Friend,” they implement the Friend’s Life Plan, and together all live into their human potential. Learn more by contacting either Sherri Mangum or Rosanne Roberts.

Calling All Parents!

It's that time of year! Do you have a child or grandchild who is participating in youth activities? Do you know a child who could use some extra cheering on? Our congregation loves to show their support. Please share performance, event, and game schedules (including locations) with the Community Engagement team and we will publish a schedule of youth happenings. Then, simply show up and cheer (perhaps in your PUMC gear)!

Schedules can be shared with Katie Sparrow of the Community Engagement team via email (kssparrow@gmail.com) or text (734-635-0026)

Looking Ahead

Graduating Seniors Sunday

We will recognize all 12 of our graduating Seniors at all 3 services on May 5. Plan on attending one of the services to show love and support for these young adults.

In addition, we are creating gift baskets for them! We have a few items left to complete the baskets. If you would like to contribute, please click the button below. Donations of candy or personal cards of encouragement are also welcome. Contact the church office for names of graduates if needed to personalize cards.
