The Dows Lane Garden is coming back to life this spring and we need parent/caregiver volunteers to help with planting, weeding, maintenance, harvesting and supporting classroom visits.

3rd Grade Moving Up T-Shirt & Class Gift

Moving Up Day for Dows Lane 3rd graders is on June 20th and every graduate will wear a custom Dows Lane 2024 Moving Up Day T-Shirt featuring the names of all their classmates! A portion of the proceeds from the purchase of T-shirts will be contributed to the 3rd Grade Class Gift to Dows Lane Elementary School and we invite you to make an additional donation to the class gift fund. 

Confidential financial assistance to purchase a T-Shirt is available to families in need through the PTSA Bulldog Family Fund by contacting the school social worker -- Gina Menendez (K-5) at (914) 330-2047 or gina.menendez@irvingtonschools.org. Every 3rd Grader will receive a T-Shirt, and if you do not place an order, the default T-Shirt size will be a Youth Large. 

Dows Lane Yearbooks: On Sale Now through May 3

Memorialize your child’s precious time at Dows Lane with the 2023-24 yearbook! Visit www.yearbookordercenter.com and enter school code 18660 to place your order.

Yearbooks are $25 each and confidential financial assistance is available to families in need through the PTSA Bulldog Family Fund by contacting the school social worker -- Gina Menendez (K-5) at (914) 330-2047 or gina.menendez@irvingtonschools.org.

Volunteers Needed: PTSA Preschool Carnival

May 18 | 10AM | Dows Lane

The PTSA is hosting our annual Preschool Carnival to welcome Dows Lane’s newest students! The Carnival features games and activities provided by Mohawk Day Camp, as well as a bake sale and school tours for incoming K students given by 3rd graders. 

We need your support to make this fun-filled, community-building event for new families a success.

Here’s how you can help: 

• Donate individually wrapped, nut-free baked goods (Sign-Up to Donate Food)
• Volunteer your time at the Carnival to help with check in, facilitate games, sell baked goods, and answer questions from preschool families (Sign Up to Volunteer at the Fair) 
• Sign-up your 3rd Grader to give school tours to preschoolers. Instructions and script will be provided. (Sign-Up to Be a 3rd Grade Tour Guide)

Seeking Books and Volunteers for PTSA Used Book Sale

May 14 - 18 | Dows Lane MPR

We're collecting gently used books for the annual PTSA Used Book Sale fundraiser! Books can be dropped off now through May 8th at collection boxes at Dows Lane (Main Lobby), MSS (Main Lobby), IMS (Upper Lobby) and the IHS (Main Office). 

Dows Lane Class Shopping Days: May 14, 15, 17

Parents/Community Shopping Days: May 16 and 18

Fund your child’s e-wallet so they can shop the sale with their class without cash! Children’s books range from $1 - $2, and unused funds will be donated to the PTSA. Sign-Up to Volunteer to sort books, set up the sale, work check-out and break down the sale. Questions? Save the Dates: K-3 Grade-Specific Playdates

Please mark your calendars to celebrate the end of the school year with your child’s grade at the grade-specific playdates! All playdates will be held at Matthiessen Park, rain or shine. No drop off - parents or caregivers must accompany students.

Kindergarten: Wed 6/19 @ 9:00am

1st Grade: Friday 6/21 @ 11:30am

2nd Grade: Monday 6/24 @ 11:30am
