September and October were busy at Seely Place! We welcomed the fall weather, along with many fun PTA-sponsored community events and enrichment programming that helped bring learning to life. Thank you to our many PTA volunteers that helped make all of this happen!

Hope you all enjoy these pictures, please click on each collage to expand!

Enrichment Programming

Sixth Grade Writes With Barbara Dee

Local author, Barbara Dee visited with sixth graders and discussed her new book, Haven Jacobs Saves the World which examines the important topic of eco-anxiety along with other typical middle school worries such as friendships, crushes, and sibling issues. Dee also led our students in their own character development workshop.

Yoga Fridays

Students at Seely Place began Fridays in October with a mindful minute to set the tone for the day. Each class had a yoga session to reduce stress and anxiety, increase confidence and strength, and enhance the connection between mind and body.

Fifth Grade Plays the Steel Drums

As a fun augmentation to their reggae music curriculum, fifth graders loved listening to and interacting with these incredible musicians, Josh Quillen and Kendall K. Williams. Thank you to Seely's K-6 Music Teacher for helping the PTA bring music to life!

Hudson River Sloop Clearwater

Our 4th graders got their hands wet with a hands on STEAM activity. Children discovered, examined and identified live aquatic invertebrates and fish drawn from the estuary, building on the Hudson River unit they are currently studying.

First Grade Journaled with

Angelo DeCesare

Author Angelo DeCesare inspired our first grade students with his creativity in a special journal writing session. Mr. Angelo, as students call him, is a former comic book writer and brought our kiddos a fun day of writing and drawing!

Read-a-Thon

With over 200,000 minutes read, the PTA Readathon was a huge success! Don't forget - students can continue to use the Beanstack app to support their individual reading goals throughout the year.

After School Clubs

Our kids have been thriving after school! In NinjaKids our students are growing stronger physically and emotionally with Coach Mikey's strength exercises, yoga poses, self-affirmations, and sick dance moves. Our group of seasoned Storytellers have been sharpening their group and individual writing skills by each writing a classic story ending from a different character's perspective. Buzzy Kids will be changing the world some day with their innovations! In Science & Art the creativity was truly flowing with colorful cauldron painting. Can't wait to see what the next month brings!

Community Events

Back to School

The PTA welcomed students with a back to school sign on a rainy first day of school. Parents baked delicious treats for our first principals' coffee.

Your copy should address 3 key questions: Who am I writing for? (Audience) Why should they care? (Benefit) What do I want them to do here? (Call-to-Action)

Create a great offer by adding words like "free" "personalized" "complimentary" or "customized." A sense of urgency often helps readers take an action, so think about inserting phrases like "for a limited time only" or "only 7 remaining"!

Pizza Days

We welcomed the return of an Edgemont favorite, serving over 500 slices of pizza for our first pizza day at Seely!

Yankees Game

The Yankees Game was a HIT!  We loved cheering on the Yankees as they were victorious over the Red Sox!

K-2nd Parents Night Out

K-2nd Parents enjoyed a fun night out with lots of delicious food and cocktails at Mariachi Loco!

Faculty & Staff Appreciation

The PTA celebrated and showed our appreciation for faculty and staff through the welcome back breakfast with the PTSA. We delivered a snack gift basket at both schools for National Custodian Day, and we are so excited to kick off our new PTA initiative - Snacks for Staff!

CHILD Meet & Greet

Our first PTA CHILD (Children Having Individual Learning Differences) Meet & Greet of the year had a great turnout. We met with administration and had the opportunity to connect with other families.

The sun was shining at Seely Place and many beautiful momemts were captured during Family Photo Day.

And the kiddos couldn't have looked cuter posing with their classmates for school photo day!

Edgemont Totes

Who doesn't love a personalized tote bag? We were thrilled to run two sales of our fantastic Edgemont Totes.
