We invite you to participate in PSA’s opportunities!
The Poultry Science Association’s mission involves disseminating the latest information and research within the poultry sciences. In conjunction, the Association’s vision is to be the world’s most respected resource for the poultry sciences. We are pleased to offer a variety of outlets that help us strive to meet these goals. Through our monthly interpretive summaries, the Let’s Squawk About It interview series, infographics, and more, we are working to spread the latest poultry science research.
If you have recently conducted or published research, and you would like to discuss or promote the science, look into all the opportunities available through the Poultry Science Association. Our Get Involved Form is always open and taking submissions for consideration.
To go a step further, we are also happy to provide monthly member spotlights, as you will see below. If you are a member of the association and would like to be featured, complete the Member Spotlight Submission Form and you could soon see yourself featured in an upcoming issue of PSA Postings.

A recent study published in The Journal of Applied Poultry Research sought to determine the best stocking density for free range layer flocks. Although there is no standard stocking density for free range layers, the researchers set out to identify if the common 1-1.5 square foot space per bird affected the spread of microbes to hens and their eggs.

Probiotics for Heat Stress
This short communication from Poultry Science® examines the effects of a probiotic, Bacillus subtilis, on neuroinflammation in heat-stressed broilers. The study did find that the probiotic improved brain immunity of heat-stressed broilers by reducing proinflammatory cytokines. The results also supported other findings that Bacillus subtilis supplementation reduces heat-related behaviors including panting and wing spreading.

Virtual Academy is April 24-28, 2023
SEA was created several years ago to fit an education need for the egg production and processing industries. Through a combination of interactive classroom experiences taught by expert speakers, and hands-on learning, participants are provided the latest information on egg quality and egg safety.
Virtual SEA runs April 24-28, 2023 on Zoom and is an Egg Production & Processing 101 experience that focuses on egg quality information and an interactive experience that is useful for employees who work in egg barns and processing plants.
Virtual SEA is broken out into two courses: Live Hen Production on April 24 – 26 followed by Egg Processing and Food Safety April 26 – 28, all of which run from noon to approximately 3:00 EST each day. Employees, students and academia may join SEA on Zoom for a few hours each day and still be able to work or attend class.
