Upcoming closure of Stony Plain Road
April 25, 2024

Starting at 7 a.m. on April 29, Stony Plain Road will fully close between 131 Street and 139 Street as Marigold Infrastructure Partners (MIP) resume construction for the Valley Line West LRT. The closure is expected to last until the end of August. North/south vehicle access across Stony Plain Road will be maintained on 134 Street.

The closure will facilitate the following work:
  • Replacing temporary pavement with permanent pavement (except at 134 Street).
  • Installation of concrete sidewalks and street lights.
  • Installation of foundations to support the Overhead Catenary System (to power the LRT).
  • Track bed construction and first rail installation (summer).
  • Stony Plain Road Bridge approach and deck work.

Summary of Traffic Impacts:

Motorists:
  • East/west traffic on Stony Plain Road between 129 Street and 139 Street will be closed until the end of August.
  • East/west traffic is detoured to 102 Avenue or 107 Avenue.
  • North/south access across Stony Plain Road will be maintained on 134 Street.

Pedestrians:
  • East/west pedestrian access on Stony Plain Road between 131 Street and 139 Street will be closed until the end of August.
