Several planned maintenance projects will take place across the LRT system. Riders will see the following service adjustments on the Capital/Metro Lines in the coming weeks:
Saturday, April 20
From the start of service to noon, Capital and Metro Line trains will run at 20-minute frequencies while crews conduct trackwork near Health Sciences/Jubilee Station. During this time, the Metro Line will only run from NAIT/Blatchford Market to Government Centre. Once the trackwork is complete, service will return to regular Saturday schedules between noon and 8 p.m.
After 8 p.m, there will be no Metro Line service from NAIT/Blatchford Market to MacEwan to accommodate signal testing.
LRT replacement bus service will run between Churchill and NAIT/Blatchford Market from 8 p.m to the end of service. Buses will run every 15 minutes and stop at bus stops marked with blue “LRT Replacement” signs.
April 27- 28 and May 4 - 5
NAIT/Blatchford Market Station will be closed April 27-28 and May 4-5 to support safe and efficient demolition work at the former NAIT station. During this time, trains will not run between NAIT/Blatchford Market and Kingsway/Royal Alex Stations.
On these four days, riders can use
LRT replacement buses, running every 15 minutes, at any of the bus stops marked with blue “LRT Replacement” signs. Metro Line trains will continue to run on their regular weekend schedule using Kingsway/Royal Alex as the northernmost stop. Capital Line and Valley Line Southeast service will not be affected.
Following the demolition of the former temporary NAIT station, construction will begin on the planned shared-use path, landscaping and architectural elements.
Sunday, April 28
Additional service changes will occur on April 28. Metro Line trains will run from Kingsway to Health Sciences/Jubilee Station until 6 p.m. After 6 p.m, Metro Line service will only run from Kingsway to Churchill as crews will be conducting maintenance work at Corona Station. This work will require trains to single track through Corona and Bay Enterprise Stations. Capital Line service will remain on its regular Saturday schedule with potential for delays of up to two minutes. Valley Line Southeast service will not be affected.
