REST for Jasper evacuees extended until September 3

August 19, 2024

At the request of the Municipality of Jasper, the City of Edmonton’s Rapid Emergency Support Terminal (REST) will remain open until September 3.

Since July 23, the City of Edmonton has registered more than 2,700 evacuees from Jasper and Jasper National Park. Jasper residents can continue to visit the REST location in person (Kennedale Site, Building #2, 12814 58 Street) from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. to access support services.

The Municipality of Jasper is providing transportation to evacuees returning home to Jasper who complete the transportation survey. Buses are currently scheduled to depart from Edmonton on August 21 (including pets), 22 and 23. Dates are subject to change, and information is being shared directly with evacuees.

All registered evacuees who need accommodations have been provided lodging. Hotel rooms have been extended to September 3, and individuals registered with the Canadian Red Cross are being notified. If evacuees are asked to vacate their room, they should contact Canadian Red Cross at 1-800-863-6582.

For the duration of the response, REST will not be open to the media as it is personal space for evacuees.
