Police commission member recruitment underway

August 26, 2024

Edmonton City Council is recruiting for the Edmonton Police Commission. Candidates will have demonstrated experience, education and knowledge in governance, oversight and board operations and have an understanding of public accountability and scrutiny in a public setting.

The Commission is a non-political governance body which provides civilian oversight of the Edmonton Police Service (EPS). It’s a diverse and independent police board composed of highly qualified professionals who bring a wealth of education, lived experiences and unique perspectives to police governance and oversight. Being a member of the Commission provides the opportunity to sharpen governance skills and gain a broader understanding of municipal policing and government processes.

Those interested in supporting the vision of the Commission to create a safe and vibrant city are encouraged to apply online with a cover letter outlining their vision for policing, résumé and two letters of reference. The deadline to apply is September 22, 2024.
