Fun for everyone as City Hall Fountain opens with music, art, hockey, dance and games

Celebrate by splashing your day away in the heart of Edmonton at Splash Day!

Pack your beach towel and your sunscreen and splash away the afternoon with family-friendly activities and entertainment on the City Hall Plaza. 

Get into the groove with music from DJ Funkasaurus Rex and entertainment by Firefly Circus, the Ho’omaka Hanu A Ke Aloha Polynesian Dance Society, and the Ngorimba Marimba Band. Get your face painted, and enjoy roving performers, including Mrs. Bubbles, Hula Hoop Circus and the Clown Cartel. Edmonton Arts Council will be on hand with activities and games in Sir Winston Churchill Square, including table tennis, large format chess and checkers, snakes and ladders and giant Lego. Get hyped for Game 2 between the Edmonton Oilers and Dallas Stars by testing your slapshot and playing street hockey in the inflatable hockey rink. Come sign the Oilers community banner to cheer on the team. There will also be 3 draws for Heritage Classic Oilers Cityscape banners. Hockey fans - we got you covered!

Stop in at the Hallway Café and receive a free custom mocktail. Check out their awesome menu and treat yourself to something delicious. Food trucks will also be on site for those looking to purchase a meal or snack. 

Take part in a spring planting activity to celebrate the return of gardening season and eight new pop-up garden planters in City Hall Plaza. Open and accessible for everyone to enjoy, these beds will be filled with a variety of plants, kicking off the new City Hall Urban Agriculture initiative. While you’re there, check out Downtown Spark’s Lost Dogs Disco art installation.

The City Hall fountain will be operational seven days a week until Labour Day. Fountain and Change Room hours are 10 a.m. to 9 p.m.

Getting There
Why not leave the driving to us? City Hall and Sir Winston Churchill Square are easily reached by bus and LRT. 

Riders can use Arc – a convenient way to pay for and take transit. No need to deal with paper passes or exact change, as riders can simply tap on and off transit using an Arc card or single-use Arc ticket. Visit myArc.ca for more information. 

Travelling with kids? Use a Family/Day Pass to take you there. This pass provides unlimited daily travel on ETS for up to five people (maximum of two adults over 24 years old) for $10.25. Family/Day Pass can be purchased at retail sales outlets (find the one nearest you at edmonton.ca/ETSWhereToBuy) and the Edmonton Service Centre.

Parking
Parking is available in the Canada Place and in Stanley A. Milner Library Parkades with elevator access for accessibility.
