It’s an action-packed Saturday for sports fans, and Edmonton Transit Service (ETS) can take you there! Edmonton Elks fans can catch the season opener at 2 p.m. at Commonwealth Stadium. As in previous seasons, fans can use pre-purchased, game day Elks tickets to access ETS on their way to and from home games throughout the season. Game day Elks tickets can be used as fare for Park & Ride service, as well as on regular bus or LRT service for two hours before the game, during the game, and two hours after the game ends.
This year, four Park & Ride locations will be available: Eaux Claires Transit Centre, Lewis Farms Transit Centre, NAIT and Nakî Transit Centre. More information is available at edmonton.ca/FootballParkandRide.
The opening of the Valley Line Southeast LRT is a major transit milestone for the City, providing enhanced transit service to riders travelling between downtown and southeast Edmonton. Riders can benefit from the newly paved lot, free parking and modern amenities at Davies Transit Centre and take the train to Churchill Station. Riders can then transfer to the Capital Line to the recently renovated Stadium Station, which is a short walk from Commonwealth Stadium. Elks game day tickets will count as fare on the Valley Line Southeast. As this line is operational, park and ride buses will not operate from Davies Transit Centre.
Bus routes 2 and 101 can also take riders to the Stadium Transit Centre. Route 3 will use a temporary stop near Commonwealth Stadium on 86 Street/112 Avenue, as this route detours from Stadium Transit Centre on Edmonton Elks home game days. Route brochures can be found at edmonton.ca/routebrochures.
Security measures and clear bag policy are in effect for the Stadium. Gates open one hour before game time.
Oilers face-off in Stanley Cup Finals
Heading Downtown to the Edmonton Oilers Watch Party in Rogers Place? The puck drops on playoff action at 6 p.m. Leave the driving to ETS and take the Capital, Metro or Valley Line Southeast LRT downtown. Riders can catch multiple bus routes, including the 7 or the 9, within walking distance of Rogers Place. In addition, there are several Express bus routes that take fans downtown from various transit centres, like the 500X starting at Meadows or the 110X starting from Eaux Claires.
Wherever you’re going, remember to load your Arc card in advance so you can tap on and tap off the bus or train. Riders can also buy Arc tickets at an Arc vending machine located in transit centres and LRT stations. More information on fares can be found at edmonton.ca/fares.
Riders can plan their trips at edmonton.ca/transit or through Google Maps.
