E-scooter and e-bike shares are returning to Edmonton’s streets, expanding transportation options for people to explore and experience Edmonton this summer. The City of Edmonton has approved licences to vendors Lime and Bird to operate micromobility ride sharing services through to December 31, 2023. Altogether, the vendors will provide a fleet of 1,500 e-scooters and 400 e-bikes available at designated parking spaces throughout the city. E-scooter and e-bike shares can bridge gaps in travel that personal vehicles, transit, or infrastructure may not cover, and allow people to access amenities, recreation opportunities, or daily needs. When more people walk, bike or roll, there is less traffic congestion, our impact on the environment shrinks, and Edmonton becomes a healthier, more livable and vibrant place to live.
“The City of Edmonton is excited to welcome e-scooters and highly sought after e-bikes to Edmonton this summer and beyond,” said Jessica Lamarre, Director of Safe Mobility and Traffic Operations. “We ask that while everyone is having fun and getting to where they want to go, to also be mindful of others while riding. Edmonton’s streets are for everyone, including all ages, abilities and modes.”
E-scooters and e-bikes can be used on shared pathways, bike lanes and streets with a 50 km/h speed limit or lower; they are not allowed on sidewalks. Edmontonians can find the safest and most convenient route through the

At the end of a trip, there is no need to return e-scooters and e-bikes to the same location. Riders are encouraged to park in a way that does not block pathways, streets or access to a home, business, city facility or other destination. Complete safe riding and parking information is available at
