City of Edmonton supports Jasper and Jasper National Park evacuation response

July 23, 2024

The City of Edmonton has responded to a request for assistance from the Alberta Emergency Management Agency and the Municipality of Jasper to support a mandatory evacuation in Jasper and Jasper National Park.

Beginning Tuesday, July 23 at 2 p.m., the City of Edmonton will accept evacuees at Kennedale Site, Building #2, 12814-58 Street, and support will be available 24/7.

The Kennedale location will provide all immediate needs for evacuees including coordination of lodging and funding for food, water, clothing and hygiene items, pet day care and health care. Evacuees can bring their pets, and are encouraged to not leave animals in vehicles due to the extreme weather conditions.

“The City of Edmonton is proud to answer the call to support our neighbours in Jasper and Jasper National Park. Our Office of Emergency Management has a strong response program and we are well prepared,” said Interim City Manager, Eddie Robar. “The residents of Jasper and displaced visitors of Jasper National Park can rest assured that they will be safe and supported while they are in our City.”

Edmontonians are asked not to bring donations of any kind. Donations and volunteers are not needed at this time.
