In recognition of International Trails Day on June 1, the City of Edmonton invites Edmontonians to celebrate our iconic River Valley Parks and its scenic trails.
This annual event, commemorated the first Saturday in June, is dedicated to celebrating trails, appreciating the staff who build and maintain them, trail uses and the healthy lifestyle they encourage.
Here are some fun ways to celebrate this year's Trails Day:
Explore Edmonton’s +160 km of scenic trails for free
There are plenty of nature’s gems to discover via our river valley trails. Hike, run, bike, take a stroll or enjoy the scenic views at our River Valley trails using the
DiscoverYeg map. For example, there are many trails through Louise McKinney Riverfront Park, Henrietta Muir Edwards and Gallaher Parks. Thes parks are accessible by transit and the paved trails enable people with strollers or mobility aids opportunities to take in the views of the River Valley and downtown Edmonton. Visit our
website and explore all that our River Valley has to offer. There is always something new to explore, enough to fill your weekends for the rest of the year!
Free Play Rangers Program
There is no Wi-Fi in the fields, but you will find a better connection at our free outdoor adventure program designed for both kids and adults participation. This family-oriented program is packed with fun and learning activities, including basic survival skills, map/compass reading, building tarp shelters, and more. Learn and connect with other Play Rangers or take a stroll and explore Edmonton’s newest
Northeast River Valley Park.
Date: Every Saturday between June 1-22
Time: 11:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m.

Outdoor Adventure Programs

A Palace Wedding until June 23. Bask in nature while being surrounded by hydrangeas, geraniums, begonias and an astonishing eight-foot-tall water feature. Take a break and enjoy a treat at
Cafe Bloom, then step out onto the paved trails in Gallagher Park. Head up to the Dove of Peace for a photo or to enjoy a walk across the Tawatinâ Bridge.
