23 Avenue eastbound to be closed over Calgary Trail for pavement repairs

July 9, 2024

Eastbound lanes along 23 Avenue over Calgary Trail and Gateway Boulevard will be closed for pavement repairs. The closure begins Friday, July 12, at 7 p.m. and is expected to continue until 11:59 p.m. on Sunday, July 14. The closure area also includes the northbound exit ramp off Gateway Boulevard to 23 Avenue eastbound and westbound as well as the northbound ramp from 17 Avenue to 23 Avenue eastbound and westbound.

Drivers in the area should leave extra travel time and consider using alternative routes such as Parsons Road, 34 Avenue and Ellerslie Road for travel.

Roadside signage will notify drivers in the area of the upcoming closure. Edmonton Police Service personnel will be on site to assist with traffic control throughout the duration of the closure.

This closure of the 23 Avenue eastbound roadway is necessary as crews complete pavement repairs to address rough and uneven asphalt surface caused by natural settlement. The City acknowledges that the 23 Avenue intersection has a high volume of traffic and thanks residents for their patience and understanding as crews work to enhance the condition of the roadway.
