WOW, what a week! The PRS PTO sponsored STEAM Week this week, led by parent volunteer Jill Slankas, who did an incredible job with her team pulling it all together! PRS STEAM Week was part of a statewide effort to boost the interest, awareness and ability for all learners to envision themselves in STE(A)M education and employment opportunities, and complement the formal instruction happening in the Commonwealth beyond this week.
Activities for 2022 STEAM Week at PRS included:
Dr. Colleen Dalton, Professor at Brown University, (and proud PRS parent) on Volcanoes to 2nd, 3rd, and 4th graders - this included some amazing video footage, and gettin the students excited about the scientific process (Notice, Ask, Guess, Experiment, Report & Share).
New England Reptile show presentation to Kindergarten and 1st grade - always a big hit with reptiles from all over the world.
Whale and Dolphin Conservation to Kindergarten and 1st grade - this included a 45 foot inflatable whale that the students could explore and real life artifacts.
Field trip to New England Base Camp (Milton, MA) for 5th grade which included several outdoor hands-on activities.
Kathryn Goulet (proud PRS parent) on 3D Animation to 5th grade.
Martin Touhey (proud uncle to two PRS students) on Beekeeping to 2nd grade.
