PRO-ED Field Testing News

Summer is a great time to collect data and earn extra cash!

Urgent Call for Data!

We need additional data on several projects nearing completion:

  • CTOPP-3/TOWRE-3/TOSREC D&S: We are seeking examiners in the South to round out data collection on these tests. Examiners will be paid $75 per administration for the CTOPP-3; $40 for the TOSREC D&S; and $40 for the TOWRE-3. Examinees will be sent a $10 Amazon gift card for each test they complete.

  • Stanford Binet Intelligence Scales-Sixth Edition (SB-6): We are seeking examiners in the South and Midwest to move this project along. We also need test-retest data. Examiners will be paid $125 per administration and examinees will receive a $40 Amazon gift card.

  • Test of Written Language-Fifth Edition (TOWL-5): We are seeking data from the South, especially racial minorities. We are still seeking test-retest and equivalency data, especially in the South. Examiners will be paid $70 per administration and examinees will receive a $30 Amazon gift card.

  • Gray Oral Reading Tests-Fifth Edition: Normative Update (GORT-5: NU): We are seeking examiners in the South to complete data collection with 12- through 14-year-old examinees. Examiners will be paid $60 per administration, and examinees will receive a $30 Amazon e-gift card.

  • Gray Silent Reading Tests-Second Edition (GSRT-2): To finish data collection on this project, we need examiners in all regions to test 14- through 17-year-old examinees. Examiners will receive $50 per administration, and examinees will receive a $20 Amazon e-gift card.

  • Test of Early Written Language-Fourth Edition (TEWL-4): We seek examiners in all regions to test a racially and ethnically diverse mix of examinees ages 4 through 11 years. Examiners will be paid $50 per administration, and examinees will receive a $20 Amazon e-gift card.

Important Administrative Updates

Returning Data Updates:

  • We have a new gift card process! Before returning completed data, the email address for gift card recipients must be entered into the appropriate space on the Active Subjects screen and the appropriate box must be clicked to indicate which assessment is being compensated. Failure to do so will result in delayed compensation or non-payment for examinees.
  • When scanning data to upload on the Field Examiner Portal, always adjust your scanner settings to color and double check the scan for readability. Also upload all pages of all record forms. Any data uploaded that cannot be read or that is incomplete will be returned to you, delaying compensation.
  • When returning via FedEx, please return completed data in as few packages as possible rather than one at a time. This saves everyone time and money.
  • When completing materials, ensure that all forms (e.g., authorization, demographic, record forms, etc.) are fully complete and match the characteristics of the subject ID. Incomplete data will be returned to you for completion resulting in delays in your compensation.

General Field Testing Information

Compensation: Please allow 4-6 weeks to receive compensation. You may receive it sooner, but during busy periods in the year it can take the full amount of time. We encourage you to sign up for direct deposit to receive compensation faster.

Shipping: Please request materials as far in advance of scheduling as possible and allow up to 2 weeks to receive materials. Inclement weather often delays FedEx deliveries.

Uploading Data: When scanning in your data to upload on the Field Examiner Portal, be sure to adjust your scanner settings to color and double check the scan for readability. Also upload all pages of all record forms. Any data uploaded that cannot be read or that is incomplete will be returned to you, delaying compensation.

Return Labels: If you need a return label, visit the Field Examiner Portal and click the link in the menu or the button beside your active subjects. For best results, drop off your materials at an official FedEx drop point.

Validity Studies: Test-retest, equivalency, concurrent, and clinical validity studies are available on the Field Examiner Portal. Here's a brief explanation of each type of study:

  • Test-retest studies involve administering the test twice with an intervening time period of approximately 2 weeks.

  • Equivalency studies usually a test-retest embedded in an equivalency study where you give both forms of the test. In this study, it's important to administer both forms at both the first testing (time 1) and at the second testing approximately 2 weeks later (time 2). It is also very important to counterbalance the order of administration of the alternate forms. That is, you might give Student 1 Form A first at time 1, then give Form B first at time 2. Then you should give Student 2 Form B first at time 1, then give Form A first at time 2.

  • Concurrent validity studies require data collection on the test in norming as well as a related test.

  • Clinical studies involve collecting data on examinees with diagnosed exceptionalities from any region, gender, race and ethnicity.
