HEALTH OFFICE UPDATE
Reminder: If you are not feeling well, go to the health office, not attendance and your parents will check you out there. If you need to leave campus for any other reason, your parents must check you out from attendance. Remember to check your AERIES account on a regular basis to make sure your attendance is accurate.

COLLEGE REP VISITS
College Career Center welcomes Juniors and Seniors to attend in-person College Rep Visits which begin on Monday, September 11th and go through October in the CCC. The following colleges are just a few that have a scheduled visit: University of Michigan, University of San Francisco, Chapman, Arizona State University, UCSB, Southern Methodist, Dartmouth, University of Utah, University of Chicago. A full schedule is available on SchooLinks and all students MUST have a signed Teacher Permission Slip turned in 24 hours prior to the event to attend. Students wishing to attend 9/11 Dartmouth visit MUST have signed teacher permission slip turned in by Friday 9/8. Instructions on how to sign up to attend, and to access the Teacher Permission Slip can be found here https://pvphs.pvpusd.net/apps/pages/CCC-CollegeRepVisits Colleges are still in the process of signing up for times to visit Peninsula so make sure you check back regularly. All Rep visits are students only.
COLLEGE NIGHT
The College Career Center presents College Night on Wednesday, September 6th at 6:30P. Juniors and their parents are invited to attend a special presentation beginning at 5:30P and senior parents are invited to counselor presentations at 5:30P. College Night Presenters provide information to students and parents about applying, attending, financing: Private Universities, Out of State Universities as well as information about Writing Your College Essay, Putting together the College List, Deciding on a Major, SAT/ACT testing and the new Adaptive SAT. What's happening in Mr. Kim's AVID Class? AVID 10 had a lot of fun during last Friday's AVID lesson. Students had to communicate to their partners how to draw a picture on the slide without the partner being able to see it.

What's happening at PVPHS to build a positive school culture? This last Tuesday, 80 student leaders on campus participated in the 4A Leadership workshop led by Jason Jedamski. This workshop provided these students with an opportunity to take an in-depth look at campus culture and ways to improve school spirit and connectivity.

Applications for PVPUSD Student Council
Are you interested in making our school district a better place? The PVPUSD Student Council is a student-run organization that meets monthly to address and resolve any issues that affect our district. Students will have the opportunity to talk about concerns that can be brought up during Board of Education Meetings. The applications are currently open and the deadline for submission is September 15th. PVPHS ROTARY INTERACT
Palos Verdes Peninsula High School is now represented on the Rotary Interact Board. Sophomore Czarina Gordon was recently chosen to be the Assistant Student Representative in the Interact Board for Rotary International District 5280. She will be collaborating with other student Interact leaders and coordinating community service activities for all 29 Rotary Interact clubs in the Los Angeles area and South Bay. She will also be participating in the Rotary Youth Leadership Conference on Sept 8-12 along with other PVPHS students: Alexis Shut, Benjamin Swartz, Alexsis Green and Madison Camino. Rotary Interact focuses on developing young leaders to become service-minded citizens who will create positive and sustainable change globally and in their local communities.

California Scholarship Federation (CSF - California's OLDEST honor society) begins their fall collection soon. Collections are at lunch in H65 August 28th – September 8th. Check the eligibility lists outside of H65 and the Hawthorne Office to see if you qualify. List contains ID numbers only so check carefully!
Applications are in the Hawthorne Office and H65. Apps are accepted in H65 during lunch ONLY. Collections end September 8th @ lunch BUT DON’T wait until the last day to turn in form!! Membership is $25 (if paying with a check, make it payable to PVPHS – CSF and put student’s name on memo line). Freshmen may not apply this time as they have not yet earned grades in high school. Students who were CJSF honor members at RIS will have automatic junior membership for this semester.
Please note…if you are in a Guided Study class and your name is not on the list, please see adviser.
Remember…NO LATE APPLICATIONS WILL BE ACCEPTED, and you must use the official PVPHS application from campus, not the web.

2024–25 Student Board Member
The California State Board of Education (SBE) is accepting applications for the 2024–25 Student Board Member. Any student who is a California resident and enrolled in a public high school; will be a senior in good standing in the 2024–25 school year; and will be available to attend a statewide student leader conference in Sacramento on November 5–8, 2023, is eligible to apply.

The new allcove Beach Cities mental health and wellness center is now open and welcomes everyone 12-25 years old in your district! The center is designed FOR and BY youth to reduce stigma, embrace mental wellness, and provide access to a variety of services. You can go check out allcove on the 4th floor at 514 N. Prospect Ave. in Redondo Beach. allcove is open Tues.-Fri. 1 - 7 pm and Sat. 10 am - 2 pm. Check us out on Instagram @allcovebeachcities or the website for more info. on services offered. Also check out all the weekly events on this flyer or ask for a tour. allcove is now accepting applications for a Youth Advisory Group for the '23-'24 school year. If you are 16 or older and want to get some leadership experience and join the youth movement for mental health access in your community, please apply ASAP. The allcove YAG Application is due April 2nd. We can't wait to see you!
