Mrs. Tootell's AP US History classes participated in a review scavenger hunt with a little help from Peninsula staff.

Congratulations to our 2024-25 Student Board Member, Brandon Lin!

Physics Bowl 2024

In April, 38 Peninsula Physics students participated in the annual International Physics Bowl Competition. Physics Bowl is divided into two divisions. Division 1 is for first year physics students and Division 2 is for second and third year physics students.

It is my humble honor to announce that The Peninsula Physics Team took 1st place in both Division 1 and Division 2 across our entire region which covers half of California!

The top five scores from each division contributed to the overall total score. Peninsula's top 5 scorers from each division are:

Division 1

Conner Lee

Brady Dong

Anton Kalimov

Chenchen Shao

Osagie Osayande

Division 2

Eric Lu (Top overall score in Region 12!)

Shengie Hong

Harley Qiu

Brian Kunzang

Andy Dong

Kudos to all members of The Peninsula Physics Team who spent many hours outside of school dedicated to excellence in physics while preparing for this year’s competitions.

Boys' Swim- PEN Boys Swim Team finishes the season with placing 2nd at CIF-SS Finals at MT. SAC on last Friday. Junior Alexander Thornton broke our school record of 100 yard butterfly with an impressive 50.09 (previous record was held by Ike Shirakata ('19) 50.55). Congrats to other swimmers, Jack Rodenkirch, Kevin Han, Christopher Delacruz, Antonio Quiroz, and Franco Lee for also finishing strong at the Finals. Also, big shout out to Daniel Huang and Daniel Yang for making into the CIF-SS Prelims! Go PEN!

Boys' Water Polo Fundraiser- Save yourself from a night of cooking! Come out and support Boys Water Polo Program by dining out at Panda Express (located at Hawthorne Blvd and PCH) on May 15th (Wednesday). You can mention PEN BWP when ordering in person or enter 366180 in the fundraiser code box when ordering through the App. 20% of the profits will be given back to our program to help us cover the expenses for the upcoming season.

Four Pen students volunteered at the Torrance Sister City Association's annual Bunka-sai Japanese culture festival on April 20 and 21 to read five stories in English and Japanese for Kamishibai (paper theater). Ari Ortiz, Angie Jo, Eren Bossard and Sophia Muratsuchi did a great job sharing this old traditional art. And, in the festival's anime drawing contest, two Panthers won in the hand-drawn high school division. Anastasia Kudo took first place with her beautiful watercolor painting of cherry blossoms and a girl, and Ari Ortiz took second place with his 3D piece featuring a fox and blue-suited character.
