AN OFFICIAL STATEMENT FROM

THE SOUTHERN BLACK GIRLS AND WOMEN'S CONSORTIUM

(ATLANTA) JULY 12, 2024: Please join us as we extend our deepest gratitude and well wishes to Malikah Berry Rogers for her service with the Southern Black Girls and Women’s Consortium. She has announced that she will step down from her role as Executive Director, effective July 15, 2024. While we are saddened by her departure, we respect and support her decision to pursue new opportunities and celebrate her transition into new levels of success.

For more than four years, Malikah has been an integral part of our team, making significant contributions to the development of the Consortium. She began her journey with Southern Black Girls serving as an enthusiastic and dedicated manager, before advancing to steer our organization as Executive Director with sincere passion and vision. Her leadership and commitment have played a pivotal role in the growth and progress of our organization, and we are grateful for her tireless efforts to champion our mission, as well as her unwavering dedication to expand our impact. Her legacy of excellence will continue to inspire us as we charge forward to build upon the foundation she has laid.

During this transition, we are pleased to announce that Chanceé Lundy, our current Director of Joy, will assume the interim leadership role. Chanceé brings a wealth of experience and a deep understanding of our mission, making her well-suited to lead us through this period of change. We are confident in her expertise and ability to propel our work forward as we navigate this transition and chart our path for the future.

The Southern Black Girls and Women’s Consortium remains steadfast in our commitment to empowering and uplifting Black girls and women across the South. We thank our supporters, partners, and stakeholders for their continued trust and collaboration as we march forward into this new chapter together.

ABOUT THE SOUTHERN BLACK GIRLS AND WOMEN’S CONSORTIUM

The Southern Black Girls and Women’s Consortium (Southern Black Girls) is a collective of Black women in philanthropy, activism and girls’ work, who have become disruptors in grant-making to fundraise and provide greater resources toward underfunded organizations that, intentionally, support and empower Black girls and women in the South. The organization is led by three anchor institutions including the BlackBelt Community Foundation, the Fund for Southern Communities and the TruthSpeaks Innovation Foundation, and includes a host of grassroots and advocacy partners, who are actively engaging and implementing the work of Southern Black Girls across the region.
