The Partnership for Excellence Announces New President & CEO

COLUMBUS, OH - The Board of Trustees announced earlier today that Dr. Margot Hoffman, owner and president of Quest4Leadership, LLC, will become President and CEO of The Partnership for Excellence (TPE) effective September 17, 2014.

In this role, Dr. Hoffman will assume overall responsibility for the operation of TPE, including all strategic and operational day-to-day functions. The mission of TPE is "to cultivate performance excellence and continuous improvement among business, education, government, healthcare and non-profit organizations based in Ohio, Indiana & West Virginia."

The TPE board of trustees unanimously approved the appointment of Dr. Hoffman to the board and her role as President and CEO. "In Margot, we have found an experienced and talented executive who is deeply committed to our mission and performance excellence throughout our region. Margot's leadership experience, education, knowledge, and past service as an examiner, board member, and senior leader at Dana Corporation make her the ideal leader to build on our success throughout Ohio, Indiana and West Virginia. In March 2014, The Alliance for Performance Excellence recognized TPE as the top performing state-based Baldrige program in the nation, and Dr. Hoffman will certainly continue this legacy of excellence and build upon it as we continue to grow throughout our region" said Bryan Vaughn, Chair of TPE's Board of Trustees and President of PRO-TEC Coating Company, a 2007 Malcolm Baldrige National Quality Award Recipient.

Dr. Margot Hoffman

President & CEO

The Partnership for Excellence

Prior to joining TPE, Margot was the owner and president of Quest4Leadership, LLC, a leadership development and management consulting firm. She has over 25 years experience in engineering, corporate training, general management and senior leadership positions with global automotive supply corporations. As dean of a corporate university, she helped deploy the organization's strategic planning process. Her international experience includes spending 2-1/2 years living in Australia leading a new product launch, including starting up a manufacturing facility. As president of a global product group, Margot provided leadership for a $1.5 billion business unit, consisting of 27 manufacturing facilities and six technical centers employing over 7,000 people in 17 countries.

During these leadership experiences, she developed a passion for helping individuals develop their leadership and for driving organizations to performance excellence.

As vice president and general manager of Dana Corporation's Spicer Outdoor Power Equipment Components division, her team received The Partnership for Excellence Governor's Award. Margot has served on the TPE Board of Trustees, presented at Quest for Success and has served as an examiner with her former company's internal Baldrige-based assessment process. She institutionalized a corporate wide stage gate process and a VA/VE (Value Analysis/Value Engineering) process, resulting in more successful new product launches and $34 million in savings during the first two years.

Margot has a Ph.D. in organization and management with a specialization in leadership from Capella University. Much of her research focused on the impact of gender on leadership effectiveness. She also holds a master of business administration in management and bachelor of mechanical engineering technology degree, both from the University of Toledo. She has participated in ToyotaMotor Corporation's Production System for Executives and Breakthrough Supplier Quality programs and the University of Kentucky's Lean Executive Program.

You can meet Dr. Hoffman at this year's Quest for Success Conference on September 15-16 at the Polaris, Hilton in Columbus Ohio.  The five 2014 Partnership for Excellence award recipients will also be recognized at TPE's Annual Quest for Success Conference. We are excited to be honoring our first Platinum-level (Governor's Award for Excellence) recipient this year from the state of West Virginia.  CAMC Health System is a multi-hospital not-for-profit serving the central and southern part of West Virginia. In size, CAMC is ranked in the top 1.5% of hospitals in the nation. They are unique due to their multi-faceted role as a regional tertiary referral center, community hospital, teaching, and safety net hospital for much of West Virginia. All five of these high-performing organizations will be presented with their achievement award at a banquet on Monday evening, September 15, 2014.

During this year's conference, both of the 2013 Malcolm Baldrige National Quality Award (MBNQA) recipients, Pewaukee School District and Sutter Davis Hospital, will serve as Keynote Speakers and present information on their performance excellence journeys along with several other past MBNQA recipients representing all sectors of the economy. TPE's award recipients will also be sharing their best practices in break-out presentations and informal discussions with conference attendees.
