MCGRANN, PA -- the Manor Township Police Department recently donated a police radio to Armstrong County's Humane Program.
The radio will help protect the humane police officer (HPO) on calls by allowing her to immediately alert police for the need for assistance from anywhere in Armstrong County.
"We are happy to support this program and partnership " said Manor Township Chief of Police Christopher J. Robbins.
"We are fortunate to have the support of law enforcement in our county that care about the humane treatment of animals, and safety of the HPOs," said Officer Chris Jirak O'Donnell.
HPOs investigate cases relating to animals who are victims of cruelty, neglect, dog fighting, abandonment and other mistreatment.
The county's HPOs serve the community as unpaid volunteers and cover their own expenses.
