ACEP's Guidelines for Cruise Ship Health Care & POCUS Integration

Are you a Cruise Ship Physician/medical professional, or have an interest in pursuing this as a career? If so, you should know that as a result of cooperative efforts between experienced cruise ship physicians and ACEP, CLIA ocean-going cruise lines worldwide, carrying 100 or more persons onboard, travelling on itineraries to international waters, have agreed to meet or exceed the requirements of the ACEP Health Care Guidelines for Cruise Ship Medical Facilities as revised January 2019. Additionally, as part of an update to these guidelines in 2023, certain Point-of-Care Ultrasound (POCUS) exams are expected to be utilized on-board, effective January 1, 2026! Below you will find all the resources you need to be adequately prepared to effectively integrate POCUS for on-board clinical practice!
