Presented by PHA in Collaboration with Sellers Dorsey
|
|
If you weren't able to join us live for this webinar, you can listen to the recording and access the whitepaper and handouts by visiting PHA's website.
Held on May 11th, this webinar reviewed the findings in the compelling new issue brief recently published by Population Health Alliance (PHA) and Sellers Dorsey, which examined the Medicaid Redetermination and the critical importance of Continuous Medicaid eligibility that has been in place since the Families First Coronavirus Response Act (FFCRA) of 2020. The one-hour webinar shared perspectives from our panelists of industry experts regarding their efforts to assist and also highlight the health and fiscal impacts and opportunities to maintain coverage and continuity of care for individuals as set forth in our Issue Brief.
Attendees heard from PHA Board Director and Chair of PHA's Medicaid Continuity & Quality Workgroup, Bill Lucia, and Co-Chair Leesa Allen, Managing Director of Sellers Dorsey and former Department of Human Services Executive Deputy Secretary and Medicaid Director for the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania, in addition to our panel experts; David Grant, Chief Operating Officer of Keystone Health, along with Dr. Anthony Akosa with Franciscan Alliance, and Cheryl Friedman, Senior Vice President of Healthcare Services/Population Health with Independent Health.
"This is an unprecedented time for Medicaid and the organizations that support this vital program. It is in all stakeholders’ interest to assure continuity of coverage and care, avoiding unnecessary increases in cost and poor outcomes for this vulnerable population,” said Bill Lucia, PHA Board Director and Chair of PHA’s Medicaid Continuity & Quality Workgroup, which spearheaded the effort alongside Co-Chair, Leesa Allen, for the multi-stakeholder professional and trade association solely focused on population health management. Thank you to our experts panelists for conducting a comprehensive discussion on this vital matter and its far-reaching implications, which we are just beginning to surface.

“Medicaid agencies have begun the challenging task of redetermining eligibility for over 90 million individuals who are now covered under the Medicaid program. A significant number may no longer qualify for Medicaid and the effects of this will be far reaching and be felt across the health and human services sector,” explained Leesa Allen, Co-Chair of PHA’s Medicaid Workgroup, Managing Director of Sellers Dorsey and Former Department of Human Services Executive Deputy Secretary and Medicaid Director for the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania.
The 14-page report, entitled Medicaid Redetermination Getting it Right to Optimize Continuity and Care Outcomes, was a collaborative effort between the Population Health Alliance (PHA) and Sellers Dorsey. The report summarized the background of continuous eligibility, the predicted impacts to ending it, and opportunities for states, managed care organizations (MCOs), providers, and community-based organizations (CBOs) to assist individuals during this time of transition. Stay tuned for more updates as we will be closely monitoring this critical population health issue.
