2024 WOMEN'S GOLF WEEK PRESENTED BY ADIDAS GOLF CANADA | |
The PGA of BC and adidas Golf Canada were thrilled with a successful and engaging Women's Golf Week this year! The annual initiative took place May 28 to June 4, with a culmination on June 4 for international Women's Golf Day. The Association extends our gratitude to adidas Golf Canada for their great support of this important initiative. With their support, four PGA of BC facilities won bursaries to support their Women's Golf Week events.
The PGA of BC interviewed professionals Taylor Kim and Cari Chow and published feature articles highlighting their careers, as well as their philosophies and strategies to grow women's golf in BC. Many PGA of BC facilities hosted Women's Golf Day events, with phenomenal participation across the entire province. One of our bursary draw winners, Quilchena Golf & Country Club, celebrated Women's Golf Day with a lively afternoon of golf. The event featured engaging instruction sessions and plenty of time for enjoyable play on the course.
Thank you to John Vu, Kim Leclercq, Victor Vianzon, Jay Zhang and Jennifer Wyatt for their great support of Women’s Golf Day and for hosting a fantastic event at Quilchena! CANUCKS JUNIOR GOLF WEEK REGISTRATION OPENS NEXT WEEK | |
The PGA of BC is excited to announce that registration will soon be opening for Canucks Junior Golf Week. In partnership with the Vancouver Canucks, the initiative provides young golfers across the province the opportunity to experience and learn the game from PGA of BC Golf Professionals at golf facilities across British Columbia at a low-cost and in a fun, inclusive environment.
A full listing of camps is available HERE. The registration portal will officially open Tuesday, June 18 at noon (12PM PDT). We will share registration information with all participating facilities beginning next Tuesday. We extend our gratitude to all professionals and facilities hosting Canucks Junior Golf Week camps this year.
We would like to thank the Vancouver Canucks for their continued support of this great initiative!
We would also like to thank Ventura Sales & Marketing Inc. (Kanata Towel) for being our tee-gift provider for this year’s camps. All participating kids will receive Canucks branded merchandise as part of this year’s event.

INSTRUCTORS NEEDED: SHE PLAYS GOLF BC | |

The She Plays Golf festival by Golf Canada is a citywide celebration of golf for women and girls taking place at facilities across the Greater Vancouver Area alongside the GOLFBC Group BC Women’s Open presented by BTM Lawyers. Our goal is to address gaps in the participation pathway and introduce new players to the game through events that are welcoming, inclusive, social, and most importantly, FUN! The 2024 Vancouver She Plays Golf Festival will take place at golf courses across the Greater Vancouver Area from June 17 – June 22, 2024 and we are seeking additional instructors for the following events:

Women’s Try Golf - Wednesday June 19th from 5:30 – 8:30pm @ Gleneagles Golf Course & Clubhouse (led by Courtney Campbell)

Women’s Try Golf – Thursday June 20th from 6:00 – 8:00pm @ Birdie Indoor Golf Centre (led by Coach Shayain)

Women’s Try Golf – Friday June 21st from 1:00 – 3:30pm @ Musqueam Golf & Learning Academy

Junior Girls Tee it Up! – Friday June 21st from 5:00 – 7:30pm @ Birdies & Buckets Family Golf Centre
Key Information:
- Each event will be 2.5 hours long, with 2 hours of instruction followed by a 30-minute social
- The objective is to introduce fundamental skills in a relaxed, non-intimidating environment with a focus on fun, continued participation and learning
- We will set the structure and arrange logistics but will leave it to you, the experts, to decide how you would like to teach and lead each activity station
- Compensation: $250 for each session ($125 per hour of instruction), paid upon receipt of an invoice following the festival week

GOLFATHON FOR ALS WEEKLY RECAP | |
Throughout the month of June, PGA of BC Professionals are participating in the Golfathon for ALS in partnership with the ALS Society of BC. Golf professionals pledge to golf from sunrise to sunset lending their muscles to support those who have lost theirs to ALS. All donations raised through the Golfathons go to provide direct support to people living with ALS, their families and caregivers to ensure the best quality of life possible living with ALS.
This week, several PGA of BC professionals took part in the Golfathon:
Professionals Jared Siminoff, Mark Strong, Will Byrne, Noah Dube, Matt Steinbach, Clay O'Dell, Doug Titterington, several members of the Haus of Golf team, and the PGA of BC's Graham Abraham, took part in the Haus of Golf's 24-hour indoor Golfathon. Jared played 379 holes, with all participants combining to play 684 holes across 24 hours!
Iron & Wood Simulators also hosted a 24-hour indoor Golfathon. Derek Orr, Jordan Murphy, Eric Wang, Laird White, Norm Jackson, Tyler Komick, Tyler Lepine, Jeff Palmer, Gordy Scutt, Ian Stone, Michelle McCann, Justin Clews, Ben Griffin, Sean Hay and Lindsay Bernakevitch all participated in the Golfathon! Over the course of 24 hours, participating professionals played 15 rounds of golf.
The Vancouver Golf Club held their Golfathon on June 10. Professionals Jordan Rourke and Michael Grabowski represented the club as they golfed from sunrise to sunset.
Vernon Golf & Country Club's Brad Jones, Brooks Jones and Myles Johnson took part at their club on June 11, playing 72 holes each. Brad made nine birdies throughout the day, while Brooks and Myles made seven apiece.

KAL TIRE CUP ORDER OF MERIT JUNE STANDINGS UPDATE | |
The first 2024 standings update for the Kal Tire Cup Order of Merit is now available. The PGA of BC Order of Merit is designed to recognize excellence in competition by Association members across the province over the course of a season. Golf Professionals earn points toward the Order of Merit based upon their results in individual stroke-play championships conducted by the PGA of BC and in affiliated Regional Tour events.
In first place, reigning Order of Merit champion and recent PGA of BC Assistants' champion Steven Lecuyer (Seymour Creek Golf Centre) paces the field with his stellar results this year, having earned 42 points. Currently holding the runner-up position, Lionel Taylor (Monte's Golf Shop) has amassed 32 points after placing second at the Assistants' Championship. Rounding out the top-three, John Shin (Northview Golf & Country Club) has earned 28 Order of Merit points.

SUBMISSIONS ACCEPTED FOR REPLAY GOLF SUPPLIES TROPHY COMMUNITY ENGAGEMENT PROGRAM POINTS | |
The PGA of BC encourages members to fill out the Community Engagement Program submission form below to earn points in advance of our first standings update.
Launching in 2024, the PGA of BC’s Replay Golf Supplies Trophy Community Engagement Program aims to recognize golf professionals across British Columbia who prioritize community involvement, public volunteerism, and other charitable efforts. This initiative rewards active involvement in key community events like the Golfathon for ALS, Junior Golf Week and Women’s Golf Week, with points awarded for promoting, participating in, and fundraising for these and other community initiatives.
The program also values broader community involvement, such as volunteer work, engagement in other sports, and various fundraising activities, recognizing the diverse contributions of golf professionals beyond the course.
If you have participated in Association or community initiatives, fundraisers or volunteer work on or before May 31, please submit that information via the Google Forms link below. In addition, we award points to professionals featured in traditional media (newspapers, magazines, television). If you have been featured on any traditional media platforms, please fill out the form below:

Crucially, the program places a strong emphasis on the use of social media as a powerful tool for professionals to positively promote the PGA of BC, including education events and tournaments. This strategy aims to increase the Association’s visibility and accessibility, making it more public-facing and enhancing reputation and brand growth.
Communications & Marketing Manager Graham Abraham will track the use of PGA of BC-specific hashtags across social media to award points for social media engagement.

At last year's US Open at Los Angeles Country Club, both Rickie Fowler and Xander Schauffele shot rounds of 62 to tie the record for lowest round score in major history.
Did you know that two PGA of BC professionals both shot 62 in the same round? At the 2007 PGA of BC Championship at Rivershore Golf Links, Kendal Yonomoto and Myles Johnson (pictured) both reached 10-under par in a single round.
Yonomoto is currently competing in the PGA Championship of Canada, while Johnson just participated in the Golfathon for ALS at Vernon Golf & Country Club.

The Lower Mainland's G&G Tour hosted their latest tournament at Pitt Meadows Golf Club on May 27. Christine Wong (University Golf Club) took the victory with a two-stroke winning margin, shooting a 5-under 67. Curtis Baldwin (Meadow Gardens Golf Club), Zac Carson (Nicklaus North Golf Course) and Craig Titterington (Capilano Golf & Country Club) tied for a share of second at 3-under 69.
The Vancouver Island Club Pro Tour played Bear Mountain Resort on May 14. Lucas Nonni (Bear Mountain Resort) earned the win at home, shooting a 3-under 68 for a two-stroke victory. Jake Scarrow (Gorge Vale Golf Club) finished in second place at one-under par, while Nate Ollis (Cordova Bay Golf Course), Ben Griffin (Uplands Golf Club) and Christof Appel (The Golf Performance Project) shared third place at even-par.
The Westland Insurance Interior PGA Tour hosted their latest event at Bighorn Golf & Country Club on May 27. Jordan Relling (Tobiano Golf Course) dominated en route to a four-stroke victory, shooting a 7-under 65 for the win. Lee Alarie (Gallagher's Canyon Golf & Country Club) and Austin Bosquet (The Rise) tied as runners-up at 3-under.
The Kootenay Pro Tour took on Copper Point Resort on May 27. Nicklaus Kennedy (Granite Pointe Golf Club) earned the victory with a 2-under 69 to win by five strokes. Jamie Curiston (Wildstone Golf Course), Scott Merriam (Cranbrook Golf Club) and Harold Simkins (Bootleg Gap Golf) each posted a 74 to share second place.
