Peter Hobart Elders' Wisdom Children's Song | |
Elders' Wisdom, Children's Song is a program to honor community members. Thank you to Mr. Kuwam Alowonle, Ms. Ali Alowonle, Ms. Ashley Somaiah, Dr. Lee-Ann Stephens and Ms. Jessica Emma Steele, who were highlighted this year.
During Fourth Grade Talent Development classes with teacher Renee Robinson and music teacher Carlos Siguenza, students interviewed their elders, analyzed the transcripts and found themes in the stories and information that the elders shared. Then the students with additional support from musicians Joe Davis and his accompanying musicians as well as our very own Amanda White, collaborated to write the lyrics and compose the music for each song. The songs were shared at a night performance this week.
This years Elder's Wisdom Children's Song was a wonderful experience! The 4th Graders did a fantastic job honoring our elders. This is a special tradition that we are so proud is a part of our yearly 4th Grade experience! Special thank you to Kim Wieberdusaire, and Renee Robinson for helping this event come together.
Elders' Wisdom, Children's Song TM is an intergenerational multicultural curriculum created and trademarked by educator and American troubadour Larry Long.
