Hello Peter Hobart Community,

It was great to see so many of you here at Peter Hobart for our Family Connect Times last week. We appreciate your partnership and having the opportunity to showcase our brilliant learners!

Below is the final week of curated activities put together by the PTO to help celebrate Black History Month! They have done a fantastic job! Please also subscribe to the PTO Newsletter so you don't miss great resources like this as well as upcoming events!

Please note, the activities with a *star are hosted at Peter Hobart. Enjoy the month!

Feb 24th: Celebrate Black History Month in style as The Link and North Commons Park join forces to bring you an unforgettable event! Enjoy delicious food, non-stop entertainment and special activities. Prepare to be mesmerized by the talents of local artists who will take the stage and showcase their abilities. There will be an exciting raffle prize that you will want to take advantage of!

Feb 25th: Half Pint Co. invites you to join them for a free, kid-focused event paying homage to the rich history of the Black community with very special guest Jason Sole, from the Institute of Aspiring Abolitionists. 11am - 2pm at Arbeiter Brewing Company.

Feb 26th: Have a conversation with your child. What have they done during Black History Month? What have they learned? Is there anything else they’d like to do to celebrate? Do you want to further build your skill in having conversations about race and racism with your child? Check out Hope Speaks Project, a non-profit organization working to normalize conversations about race and racism through family-centered classes.

Feb 27th: Get to know our local Black Artists & Creatives! Explore their work. Share with your kids!

Feb 28th: Go on a culinary tour for the whole family - coffee, juice, and a bakery! The Dripping Root is the first and only Black-Owned cold pressed juice bar in MN. Get Down Coffee Co owner’s goal is to diversify & bring accessibility to the specialty coffee scene. Get Down Coffee Co is inspired by hip-hop music. Hip-hop broke sociocultural barriers & they feel like they’re doing the same. Lutunji’s Palate owner opened her bakery built on her signature Southern-style peach cobbler. She even has a vegan option. Her secret ingredient? Canned peaches! Other than the peach cobbler & pecan pie her entire menu is vegan.

MASA Public Schools Week

This year, Public Schools Week will be celebrated February 26 to March 1, 2024. It’s a time when communities across the country will come together to celebrate, support, and champion public education. This week, we would like to especially thank our teachers and staff. The work they are doing every day directly contributes to the future success of our students and our community as a whole.
