Cochecho Arts Festival


The 38th Annual Cochecho Arts Festival begins on July 9.

The summer-long Festival showcases regionally recognized acts as well as top local Seacoast entertainers. The Chamber is proud to have taken the lead in promoting the arts and community events in Dover with the belief that everyone benefits from a vibrant, healthy community.


All Cochecho Arts Festival events are free to attend and open to the public.

Declaration of Independence Reading

Thursday, July 4, 9am


Dover kicks off Independence Day with its annual reading of the Declaration of Independence. Garrison Players Arts Center performers will resume their roles as John Adams, Benjamin Franklin, and Thomas Jefferson, who will read the Declaration at 9 a.m. on the steps of Dover City Hall, 288 Central Ave. Mayor Robert Carrier will also speak. 4th Annual Machine Gun Shoot

Friday, July 5, 2-7pm


Ring in freedom and support the incredible mission of Boot Campaign. Get behind our historic firearms, like the 1919 and RPD, that only come out once a year First-time shooters are welcome. Range Safety Officers will be assisting every shooter. Shooters must be 12 years of age or older and accompanied by a parent if under the age of 18. Learn more.

Shop Late Local

Friday, July 5, 5-8pm


Select local businesses are offering extended hours into the evening on the first Friday of each month. This allows you to shop late and show your support for downtown retailers.

Fireworks Display

Saturday, July 6, 9:15pm


The City of Dover will launch its annual fireworks display from Garrison Hill on Saturday, July 6 at dusk, around 9:15 p.m. For the best fireworks viewing, find a location where you can clearly see Garrison Hill and the Garrison Hill Tower. Before the fireworks, The Visitor Band of NH will play at Henry Law Park at the Rotary Arts Pavilion from 4 to 7pm. Click here for the Recreation Department for more information.

Teen Tie Dye Party

Tuesday, July 9, 2-3pm


Teens entering grades 6-12 are welcome to join us for an afternoon of tie-dying. Please bring any pre-washed, white article of clothing or fabric accessory that you'd like to transform into a tie-dyed piece. Tie dye equipment will be available while supplies last. Fiddler on the Roof

Running July 12-27, various times


The Rochester Opera House presents Fiddler on the Roof. Set in the little village of Anatevka, the story centers on Tevye, a poor milkman, and his five daughters. With the help of a colorful and tight-knit Jewish community, Tevye tries to protect his daughters and instill them with traditional values in the face of changing social mores and the growing anti-Semitism of Czarist Russia. Yard Sale

Pope Memorial Humane Society is hosting a yard sale. Gently used items, and more, that cannot be used at the shelter will be available for sale by donation. All proceeds from this event will be used to benefit the shelter. Click here to learn more.

National Fiber Day: Cotton Edition

Join the Southeast New Hampshire Spinning Guild at the Colonel Paul Wentworth House for a day of education and spinning as we learn all about the incredible cotton flower!

There will be a free table, a table for used equipment, and hourly prize drawings for fiber! Bring your wheels, spindles, lunch, and other fibers to spin for the day. RSVP here.

The Summer Farmer's Market is back for the summer season. This year, the Farmer's Market will take place at a new location: the Jenny Thompson Pool parking lot at Guppey Park in Dover.
