Refill Mercantile Brings Low-Waste Refill Options to Petaluma
Santa Rosa residents Dawna and Rob Mirante opened Refill Mercantile in 2021 to help others in Sonoma County adopt and sustain a low-waste life when after previously selling low-waste products online and at local markets.
Refill Mercantile offers a way for Petaluma residents to create a low-waste home by offering alternatives to single-use household items — reusable wool dryer balls, washable dusters, shampoo bars, and washcloths.
Refill Mercantile also lives up to its name with a refill program where customers can purchase, or bring their own, containers to refill with household cleaning products, like dish soap, shampoo, laundry detergent, and cleaning solutions.

Petaluma's Easy Rider Restaurant Featured on 'Check, Please!'
KQED’s long-running restaurant review series “Check, Please!” made a visit to Petaluma’s Easy Rider restaurant in its latest episode and the results were finger-lickin’ good.
The show's guests enjoyed fried green tomatoes with aioli, pork belly biscuits, steak tartare, crispy brussels sprouts, ricotta donuts, and Easy Rider’s famous fried chicken dinner, which they dubbed the best fried chicken they’d ever had.

The City of Petaluma partnered with Petaluma People Services Center to bring our community the SAFE (Specialized Assistance for Everyone) Program in July of 2021. The goal of the SAFE team is to address crisis response, prevention, and intervention for our most vulnerable community members experiencing mental health issues, substance abuse issues, and homelessness. This mobile crisis response team approach provides more efficient and successful outcomes for crisis response, intervention, and treatment for the long-term improvement of our community and individual quality of life.
The SAFE Team are civilian first responders who will respond to & proactively address calls for service that have traditionally (and unnecessarily) burdened law enforcement, emergency medical services, and health care providers.
If you need the SAFE Team’s services, you may reach them via:
-
Call 911 – An emergency dispatcher will answer and determine if your situation requires the SAFE team, first responders such as police, fire, paramedics, or a combination of both.
-
Call 707.781.1234 – You will reach a directory where you can speak with a 911 operator or a non-emergency staff member to help.

A message from the County of Sonoma:
Want to find out about wildfires, floods, power shutoffs, and other emergencies as quickly as possible? The best way is to register with the emergency alert notification systems used by the City of Petaluma (Nixle), the County of Sonoma, and PG&E.
Be sure to register yourself and anyone else in your family (kids, elderly parents, etc) who would benefit from emergency notifications.
