Announcements and Reminders from the Professional Learning Department
at the Kane County Regional Office of Education
According to the National Alliance on Mental Health (NAMI),
One in six U.S. youth aged 6-17 experience a mental health disorder each year, and half of all mental health conditions begin by age 14. It is important for educators and administrators to be equipped with the tools they need to ensure they are able to support students who may be struggling with mental health issues.
Participants of AA#1560 will understand the causes, signs, and stereotypes of mental illness, specifically anxiety, stress, depression, and self-harming behaviors. Methods of prevention, intervention, and responses will also be examined.

This course is not limited to administrators; All are welcomed and encouraged to attend and learn crucial skills for supporting students.
