From The Board
A Time for Thanks and Giving
We are gratified by the many messages we’ve received telling us how much you appreciate PD Active’s virtual classes, programs and events. Many people, many hours and a lot of goodwill are responsible for this successful transformation.

Instructors, volunteers, Board members and staff have all stepped up to create the new expanded PD Active which features more classes, additional support group sessions and new events.  We are thankful for the extraordinary talent, goodwill and generosity within our community that made this possible.

If you have not had a chance to say “thank you” with a donation to the Annual Appeal, it’s not too late.

Opportunity to Join Remote Research Study at UC San Francisco
Dr. Caroline Tanner, MD PhD is recruiting for a new, completely remote, home-based clinical trial led by a team of Parkinson’s experts at UCSF in partnership with researchers from across the country. The goal of the study is to help people with Parkinson’s disease reduce the risk of hip fractures.

TOPAZ (Trial of Parkinson’s and Zoledronic Acid) will test if zoledronic acid, an FDA-approved medication for osteoporosis (thinning of the bone) can prevent fractures in people with Parkinson’s disease. To be eligible, individuals must have Parkinson’s disease and be at least 65 years of age.

If you have any questions, please visit our study website or email TOPAZ@ucsf.edu, or call us directly at (415) 317-5748.
