PCSL Families,

Thank you for your patience and flexibility during these ever changing times. I hope your families have continued to stay safe and hopefully the Spring weather has allowed your players (and you) to get outside and enjoy the weather.  We’ve had great feedback on our virtual training programs, and continue to expand the frequency and activities for your players. For the latest news and schedules on virtual club involvement, be sure to follow us on Facebook for upcoming training schedules, coach interviews and player spotlights.

The Governor’s announcement on Tuesday, May 5th outlined his plan to “Restore Illinois”, covering a five phase plan which operates on a region by region basis. Illinois moved into Phase 2 on May 1st with the re-opening of some non-essential businesses on a limited capacity.  Gatherings of 10 or less will not be allowed until Phase 3, and the earliest date for this phase for any region is May 29th. While this plan allows for a more regional approach to resume activities, the guidelines significantly impact the options we are exploring for the summer months. We've outlined our major changes for the immediate future and will be following up with another communication before the end of May.

Spring 2020 Season:
Unfortunately, based on the updated guidelines from the State of Illinois, the Illinois Department of Public Health, and the Illinois Youth Soccer Association (IYSA), the decision has been made to officially cancel the Spring season.

Regarding Spring Season fees, as we shared in early April, almost 90% of PCSL's fees are allocated to fixed costs such as facility lease, field maintenance and insurance. With these costs incurred whether we play or not, there will not be spring refunds for players who also played in the fall. If your player was a spring only player, your fee will be refunded since the spring season never got underway and there were no games played.

We also understand that every family’s situation is different. If you have extenuating circumstances during this time, please email league@pcslsoccer.org

Summer 2020:
None of us are happy with losing a season and we will continue looking for ways to utilize our facility to provide value to our club members through the summer months if possible.

Last week, we solicited feedback from parents and coaches regarding their interest/availability for summer programming. Based on your feedback and in conjunction with the Chicago Fire Football Club, we are exploring summer programming that could operate within the IDPH and IYSA guidelines. Depending on what is allowed, this programming may include small training groups, mini games of 3 versus 3 or 4 versus 4, and limited attendance training camps. We are also working with the Chicago Fire Football Club on exploring the potential for more virtual training for our coaches and players that would be curriculum based and distributed over time. As you know, this has been an evolving situation and we are open to any possibilities to provide a soccer experience for your players, however, player safety will be our paramount goal.

As our summer plans develop, we will be sharing the relevant information and safety logistics with you as we are able.

Fall 2020/ Spring 2021 Season
We are currently planning the upcoming Fall 2020/Spring 2021 season that would allow us to comply with the new safety guidelines. Although we are still navigating through the guidelines, we are still encouraging you to register for the upcoming season. Please register here .

As more information becomes available, we will be updating participants through email and the website.

As always, please continue to stay safe and healthy and we look forward to seeing everyone on the field!
