Ohio START

Save the date: 2024 Ohio START Annual Summit

The 2024 Ohio START Summit will take place May 2 at Nationwide Hotel and Conference Center near Columbus. This event brings together caseworkers, supervisors, behavioral health providers, and family peer mentors for a day of networking and learning how best to serve Ohio's families struggling with co-occurring child maltreatment and substance use disorder. Registration is anticipated to open in March. Please contact anne@pcsao.org with any questions.

Ohio START Award nominations closing soon!

Nominations are open for the 2024 Ohio START Awards. Awards will be presented May 2 at the Ohio START Summit to agency staff and partners for their outstanding service to Ohio families. Nominations for the Ohio START Caseworker, Supervisor, Family Peer Mentor, and Partner of the Year are due March 4. Learn more and complete the nomination here.

OhioDCY children services updates 

Based on an annual evaluation, the University Partnership Program (UPP) 2022-2023 Report offers recommendations for future actions to strengthen the UPP design and future outcomes. To address these recommendations, the UPP Coordinator, in collaboration with the Department of Children and Youth (DCY), will continue to identify opportunities for action in the program's strategic plan to ensure coordinated and integrated provision of quality social work education and training.

HPIO ACEs webinar

Join the Health Policy Institute (HPIO) on Feb. 28, from 11:30 a.m.-2:15 p.m. for a webinar focused on promoting positive social norms and intervening to Adverse Childhood Experiences (ACEs) and lessen harm. Register here


Trauma-Informed Care Summit

The 11th Annual TIC Summit is hosted by the Ohio Departments of Mental Health and Addiction Services (OHMAS), Developmental Disabilities (DODD), Health (ODH), and Youth Services (DYS). This event provides space to reflect, adapt and innovate beyond being trauma-informed to providing trauma responsive and competent care. The summit will be held May 8-9. Feb. 21 – Trumbull County Children Services implements new PACT program – WFMJ

Trumbull County Children Services (TCCS) is one of eight county agencies selected to implement the Public Children Services Association of Ohio's (PCSAO) new program PACT.  PACT, which stands for Practice in Action Together, is a new shared practice model developed by PCSAO to begin modernizing Ohio's children services agencies.

Feb. 21 – Athens County Children Services adds outreach at Tri-County Career Center – The Athens Messenger

Athens County Children Services (ACCS) recently added another position to its School Outreach Team at the Tri-County Career Center. The School Outreach Team seeks to strengthen families and promote positive school relationships to enhance student wellbeing by increasing access to resources and improving overall student success.
