Welcome Home!
PCF Development handed the keys to a completely remodeled home on York Avenue to Tierra Souza and Joshua Santiago and to a newly constructed townhome on Mavis Street to Jason Sofia. Each was sold to these first-time homebuyers at $299,000 – far below the median sales price in Rhode Island.
The York home and Mavis Townhome sales were done as part of PCF Development’s ongoing commitment to offering solutions to RI’s housing crisis by providing quality, affordable housing opportunities, and revitalizing neighborhoods. Not only is PCF Development developing affordable units in the state, but it is creating pathways to homeownership through its HUD- Approved bilingual education program, which equips potential first-time homebuyers with financial tools to prepare and make savvy decisions. Both homebuyers are graduates of the PCF Development Homebuyer Education Program.
“This journey has not been easy, but with all the help from PCF Development and Rhode Island Housing I am able to see one of my dreams come true,” said Tierra. “I am looking forward to making a lot of memories here.”
Pathway to Homeownership through Homebuyer Education Program
Jason was also able to to fulfill his dream of homeownership after working with PCF Development and participating in the Homebuyer Education Program.
“Taking the homebuyer education class helped me understand the financial side of the homebuying process better. Learning about the various types of loans and what all the technical terms (like PMI, and points) actually meant was very helpful. The breakdown of all the money you’ll be spending in the first year of homeownership was pretty eye opening and, at least for me so far, is definitely true,” said Jason. “The program is a great tool for first-time buyers just to fully wrap your head around what you’re getting into. The class went over every process of homebuying from looking for a house to closing. There was a lot of information that I thought I knew but didn’t actually have a full understanding of."
