Another Legislative Session update!
S.157 and H.3394, the Hands Free bills, still have not received a hearing. Thank you for adding co-sponsors, as we're up to 15 in the House! (Taylor, West, Chapman, Pope, M.M. Smith, Davis, Thayer, Bernstein, Wheeler, Bauer, Elliott, Robbins Sandifer, Hartnett and now McCabe). Please thank these! And please urge these legislators to further support Hands Free by asking for a hearing. PCC presented the Hands Free bill and other information on traffic safety to the Legislative Black Caucus this week.

The Trails Tax Credit bill, H.3121, passed subcommittee! Please urge support from your Representative, especially if they serve on House Ways & Means. Committee vote pending today, with floor vote soon after!
The Carolina Squat bill, passed the Senate and then the House yesterday, with a final amended version. Thank your legislators for that today! S.0036, the DUI Ignition Interlock bill, passed the Senate and moved through the House with a favorable committee report yesterday. S.281, the new Public Lands Enhancement Act, remains stalled in the Senate.
PCC works another Road Safety Audit
PCC is a key stakeholder chosen by SCDOT often to participate in Road Safety Audits (RSA's). We serve in the role representing the citizen road user. We usually try to find local representatives, with road user experience as a pedestrian and bicyclist, plus someone knowledgeable about engineering protocols. We recently recommended local folks in Anderson and Greenville to help local Road Safety Audits in those counties. However, a Road Safety Audit on the fast track occurred in Columbia's Assembly Street, and without option to find someone on short notice, PCC stepped up to serve. RSA's come with some funding from SCDOT's recently expanded Highway Safety program, in addition to local sources. Thank you to Frank Mansbach of BikeWalkGreenville and Michael Gardner in Anderson for helping locally!
