I love the fall - the changing of the season brings a NEW-ness with it. There is a crispness in the air, being able to take a full breath because of it - breathing in that NEW-ness and creating the space for new opportunities and plans to be realized in the last few months of the year.
The fall season starts a time of celebration and gratitude. We here, at the NAWBO Philadelphia Center for Advancing Entrepreneurs (PCAE) have A LOT to celebrate and for which to be grateful. Our 3
rd Annual Innovation Gala was a great success; one of our young entrepreneurs met his local senator in Washington, D.C., and our ATHENA
PowerLink program’s newest panel has started.
Our line-up for the fall season is great too - with both our 6
th Young Entrepreneurs Academy (YEA!) starting in November as well as honoring women entrepreneurs of both our ATHENA
PowerLink program and our sister organization’s (NAWBO Philadelphia Chapter) Semi-Circle program at our November event!
We are grateful to be able to do this work for young entrepreneurs and women business owners in our region - and that’s thanks to you - our friends, business associates, volunteers, and supporters.
Happy Fall!
In service,
Michele Schina
President

Oh What a Night!
What an amazing night to celebrate being an entrepreneur! On October 4, PCAE was able to honor a true entrepreneur, Nick Bayer, Founder of Saxbys, with our Innovators Award at our 3rd Annual Gala at the Event Center at SugarHouse Casino.
Approximately 200 people gathered to celebrate and raise money for our
ATHENAPowerLink
and
YEA! Philadelphia
programs. We thank all those who sponsored the event, and those that made donations through the Silent and Wine Auctions.
We also thank our Honorary Chair, Emily Bittenbender of Bittenbender Construction, and Gala co-chairs, Deborah Pulver and Alexa McCaffery, for leading the way to an incredible event, and for all the volunteers who jumped in with both feet!

"There is big impact in going outside of your industry for advice. The power is exponential." - Wendy Sachs - CEO, Philadelphia Nanny Network

"ATHENA
PowerLink enabled me to get excellent advice from seasoned professionals that, at the time, I would not have had access to and possibly may not have been able to afford. Their coaching helped me build my own confidence which is now evident in the way in which I run my business." - Allyson Christoffersen, CEO, Rethink Innovations

The YEA! 2018-2019 class will begin on November 7. We invite you to support the YEA! students' experience by becoming a YEA! Business Mentor. As a Business Mentor, you'll have the opportunity to provide coaching, guidance and direction to a business enterprise by helping the students develop and complete their business plan.
This mentoring experience, conducted at Cabrini University, will have a significant impact on the students' ability to launch and run their own REAL, albeit modest, business or non-profit organization.
YEA! Business Mentors commit to six classroom visits, taking place from 6:30 p.m. - 8:00 p.m. from
January 23, 2019 through March 6, 2019
and continued out-of-class support through email and phone through graduation in May 2019.
