Mental Health Awareness Month

Hello Beautiful parents/caregivers of Beautiful Black Children & Adults. They say that motherhood & caregiving is the hardest job you will ever love, indeed. I love my boy and all the uniqueness that comes along with him, but sometimes I feel drained, exhausted and just tired of being tired.   In the Color Purple, Oprah Winfrey said “I had to fight all my life” Well, let’s change that up and let’s fight for our life, to be Mentally Healthy & Fit, for our families but mostly for ourselves. Embrace that you  are LOVED & APPRECIATED.

So, I asked you the question….

How Are You Feeling These Days?

We have made it through so much. Sometimes we still feel stressed or anxious. Remind yourself that tomorrow is a new day that could bring new celebrations and challenges.

Center for Disease Control

Supporting parents’ mental health

Supporting parents, and caregivers who act in the role of a parent is a critical public health priority. CDC provides parents with information about child health and development, including positive parenting tips, information, and support when parents have concerns about their child’s development, or help with challenging behavior. CDC supports a variety of programs and services that address adverse childhood experiences that affect children’s and parents’ mental health, including programs to prevent child maltreatment and programs that support maternal mental health during and after pregnancy. CDC also examines issues related to health equity and social determinants of health, including racism, that affect the emotional health of parents and children. More work is needed to understand how to address risks to parents’ mental health.
