PAWESOME NEWS

YOUR DONATIONS AT WORK!

Meet Walter, a Lilac Point Siamese who came to us in January after facing significant eye issues early in life, resulting in the removal of both of his eyes.

Walter was placed in a foster home to recover from his surgery for several months.  We are happy to report that Walter was adopted last month, and is happily living in his forever home.

Your support helps us to care for animals like Walter, providing above-and-beyond rescue care to animals with extra medical needs.

CICADAS ARE COMING!

Will they hurt your pets?

Cicadas are not particularly harmful to pets, but they can be a nuisance.

However, it's best to supervise your pet when they are outdoors during cicada season to prevent any potential issues:

  • If pets ingest too many cicadas, they can experience gastrointestinal issues such as vomiting and diarrhea;
  • The hard exoskeleton of a cicada can cause irritation to a pet's mouth or throat if they attempt to eat it;
  • Some pets (and people too!) may become overly excited or agitated by the loud buzzing sound cicadas make.

More information can be found on the ASPCA website.

Plant a seed for the cats and dogs of West Suburban Humane Society!

As the days get longer this spring, it means more time to focus on what matters most. Why not seize the extra moments and plan for tomorrow. It’s also an opportunity to support the future of WSHS with a gift in your estate plan.

WSHS has partnered with FreeWill to help you create a free will and make a lasting impact on the hundreds of homeless animals we care for every year.
