Winter brings freezing temperatures. Anything under 32 degrees can cause frostbite. Small dogs, puppies, seniors
and dogs with short hair are at highest risk especially if they are wet.
When the cold starts to affect your dog's body, the blood flow will shift to essential organs. Extremities, like paws and pads, ears and tails will chill faster. For intact male dogs, the scrotum can also be at risk.
If your dog shows signs of frostbite, cover the affected area with warm, not hot, towels and do not rub. This can cause further damage.
Remember, if you are cold, so are they!
