Longhouse Council - Pathways - May 14, 2021
Vol. #3 Issue #16
Tomorrow is the last Day
Pinewood Derby Show & Shine
Is your Pack not running a Pinewood Derby?
Are you more into car design than the race?
Do you just miss your Pinewood Derby days?

We have the program for you. March 1st through May 15th, Scouts and Scouters of all ages can submit a photo of their Pinewood Derby car for a chance to win the 1st annual
Pinewood Derby Show & Shine.

There will be five groups with three categories each.
The Groups will be:
Lions & Tigers, Wolves & Bears, Webelos & Arrow Light, Scouts BSA, & Adults
The categories will be;
Best Retro Design, Best Innovative Design, & Best Paint/Graphic Design

Registration fee will be $5.00
Everyone receives a patch, with prizes for the winners of every group and category and a FREE week at Camp for the Grand Prize winner.

“Rules? There are no Rule.”
Well, that is not exactly true. But there are not too many.

1.    The car must use at least one BSA Pinewood Derby Car base.
2.    Cars must be completed by the age group the car is submitted in.
(obvious help can be given to youth where needed)

Other than those two rules you are free to do whatever you like. The crazier the better. Keep in mind the categories and go wild.
Did you know the Red Cross is responsible for about half the country’s blood supply? What’s more, nearly 90% of everything they do is done and led by volunteers. They urgently need Blood Transport Volunteers (Transportation Specialists) to help assure more birthdays, more graduations, more weddings, and all those happy moments in peoples’ lives.

National Youth Leadership Training (NYLT) is an exciting, action-packed program designed to provide all 13 to 20 year old youth members of the Boy Scouts of America with leadership skills and experience they can use in their home units and in other situations that demand leadership of self and others. Training of our youth leadership is important in helping the youth and their units to grow. Over the years the Boy Scouts of America has refined and developed this week-long training experience. Youth from your unit are invited and highly encouraged to participate.

NYLT is open to all Scouts BSA members 13 and older as well as all Venturing Scouts and Sea Scouts. Please remember that this includes both male and female.
We are still waiting for guidance from New York State, but that isn't stopping us from planning a great summer.
