View from Above
Alex Ferrone • Tony Ingrisano • Winn Rea
Curated by John Cino
February 11 – April 23, 2023

Since the ancients, people have wondered what the landscape looks like from above. Working in different media, the artists of View from Above offer their visions of the surface of our planet. Photographer Alex Ferrone photographs in-flight from a helicopter. Avoiding representational elements, she observes surfaces and forms that become natural abstractions of land and water. Her images consider the fluidity of the land and sand as they are shaped intrinsically by both wind and water currents. Land is rendered above and below aqueous surfaces and is enhanced by both the reflectivity and transparency of the water.

In drawings and paintings, Tony Ingrisano considers the interface between human infrastructure: buildings, utilities, and transportation, and the natural geography into which they must fit. He keeps his feet on the ground and derives his imagery from maps of all kinds. The original cartographic abstractions are further abstracted through color, rearrangement, and an interplay of organic and geometric forms.

Winn Rea literally keeps her feet on the ground. Her mixed media works are inspired by places she has hiked. In her mixed media reliefs, USGS topological maps are transferred onto birch ply where they are cut out and layered, returning the third dimension to the landscape. Color is applied recalling her sensations when hiking the location.

80 works celebrating 80 years by Carole Z. Amodeo

April 27 - May 7, 2023
Reception & Birthday Celebration April 29 from 5:00 -8:00 PM
Gallery hours: 12:00 - 4:00 PM

A retrospective of her life reflections - Amodeo, a self-taught photographer who has been taking and displaying pictures for over twenty years. Carole uses her iPhone or a point and shoot camera (on automatic for all of her work and feels the simplicity of her process is a defining element of her pieces. All of her work is unenhanced and unedited.

Amodeo is well known for her "Reflections" pieces that have been shown throughout Long Island including most notably at the Suffolk County Historical Societies' Gish Gallery. Since beginning her Reflections' series in 1997 Carole has made her work more intricate with double reflections and deeper storytelling.

Her blown glass series was created during her exhibit at the Suffolk County Historical Society Museum in Riverhead. Amodeo's exhibit coincided with a blown glass exhibit that fascinated Carole with its lines, swirls and edges. She took photos of the pieces focusing on the shapes and lines of the blown glass.

In addition to showcasing her photography, Amodeo also speaks to local photography groups and organizations about her work. She is a member of the Patchogue Arts Council. Originally from Brooklyn, Carole now resides in Patchogue where her home doubles as her studio as well as a gallery. She is active on social media and can be found at @pixcja2 on Instagram and TikTok.

This very special I C U ~80 show is a reflection of my life and my art. Having been lucky enough to live to be 80 and continue evolving as an artist is truly amazing. I will be showing 80 various pieces from older work to my most current ,various sizes and mediums. I truly want all the people that walk in to this show to feel my love of life and photography. Hoping for it to be a REALLY BIG SHOW ! -Carole Z. Amedeo

Entranced is a rare site-specific, large-scale inflatable installation by artist Beth Giacummo. As the day transitions from golden hour to nightfall, the organic contours of Entranced come alive. Entranced will be bathed in colored light, pulsating beats, and captivating projected imagery, immersing viewers in the artist's interpretation of nature's emotive qualities and the fleeting beauty of transient life and all that passes through at the Sound View Inn. Viewers will also explore a pop-up gallery with additional works and engage in informal conversations with the artist herself, making for a surreal and unforgettable night.

Giacummo has exhibited her work both regionally and internationally in venues throughout New York, Poland, Romania, Spain, Italy, Chile, and Denmark. Her interest in blown glass and travel has led her to many cities and countries where she has had the opportunity to live, study, and participate in artist residencies in such locations as: Escola d’Arts Plastique I Disseny, Spain; Pilchuck School of Glass, Seattle, Washington; Mallnitz, Austria; Bobald, Romania; the Danish School of Design, Copenhagen, Denmark; Studio Borgo, Lucca, Italy; Glaspustning Jyderup Højskole, Denmark; Valparaiso, Chile; Saltonstall, Ithaca, New York; Poland; and Sweden.

A Supergroup of Broadway Stars
The Doo Wop Project begins at the beginning: tracing the evolution of Doo Wop from the classic sound of five guys singing harmonies on a street corner to the biggest hits on the radio today. In their epic shows The Doo Wop Project takes audiences on a journey featuring foundational tunes from the Crests, Belmonts and Flamingos through the vocal artistry of Smokey Robinson, The Temptations, and The Four Seasons all the way to DooWopified versions of modern hits from Michael Jackson, Jason Mraz, Maroon 5, and Sam Smith.
Featuring stars from the Broadway hits Jersey Boys, Motown: The Musical, and A Bronx Tale, The Doo Wop Project brings unparalleled authenticity of sound and vocal excellence to recreate—and in some cases entirely reimagine—the greatest music in American pop and rock history.

THE LOST KING

In this inspiring true story, amateur historian Philippa Langley believes she has made the archeological find of the century: the lost burial site of King Richard III. She takes on Britain's most eminent historians, forcing them to rethink the legacy of one of the most controversial rulers in English history.

RETURN TO SEOUL

On an impulse to reconnect with her origins, Freddie, 25, returns to South Korea for the first time, where she was born before being adopted and raised in France. The headstrong young woman starts looking for her biological parents in a country she knows so little about, taking her life in new and unexpected directions.

CHEVALIER

Inspired by the incredible true story of composer Joseph Bologne, Chevalier de Saint-Georges. The illegitimate son of an African slave and a French plantation owner, Bologne (Kelvin Harrison Jr. in a tour de force performance) rises to improbable heights in French society as a celebrated violinist-composer and fencer, complete with an ill-fated love affair and a falling out with Marie Antoinette (Lucy Boynton) and her court.

I, CLAUDE MONET

Monet’s life is a gripping tale about a man who, behind his sun-dazzled canvases, suffered from feelings of depression, loneliness, even suicide. However, as his art developed and his love of gardening led to the glories of his Giverny garden, his humour, insight and love of life are revealed.
