Outreach Trainer Success Story: Roberto Gomez Rubio

Many Outreach Trainer Curriculum Resources Available
So many elements go into creating the ideal learning experience for students. As an outreach trainer, you must encourage participation, enthusiasm and interaction. You need to find a way for your students to absorb and retain the potentially life-saving material. You keep an eye on the clock, ensuring that sufficient breaks are taken and that the remaining material can be covered in time. At times you may encounter a challenging student who tries to derail class. It’s quite a juggling act!

With all of your energy going towards the above worries, when is there time to develop your curriculum?

The great news is that with so many resources (many of which are free), there is not necessarily a reason to reinvent the wheel! Here are some of our most frequently recommended resource libraries:

Outreach Trainer Update Classes

This is a 3-day refresher course for those who have completed OSHA #500-Trainer Course for the Construction Industry and who are authorized OSHA Outreach trainers. It provides updates on OSHA Construction Industry Standards, policies and regulations. Prerequisites apply.
February 7-9, 2022 | Virtual, Instructor-Led (Zoom)
March 2-4, 2022 | In-Person | Las Vegas, NV

This is a 3-day refresher course for those who have completed OSHA #501-Trainer Course for General Industry and who are authorized trainers in the OSHA Outreach Training Program. It provides updates on OSHA General Industry Standards, policies and regulations. Prerequisites apply.
March 8-10, 2022 | Virtual, Instructor-Led (Zoom)
May 12-14, 2022 | In-Person | Pleasanton, CA

Participants in this 1-day course will learn about the most significant changes within Cal/OSHA that affect the construction industry. Topics include review of Cal/OSHA’s most recent strategic plan and updates to Cal/OSHA procedures that affect construction companies. Prerequisites apply.
February 10, 2022 | Virtual, Instructor-Led (Zoom)

Participants in this 1-day course will learn about the most significant changes within Cal/OSHA that affect general industry. This course updates the OSHA #5119-Cal/OSHA Standards for General Industry and continues the student’s authorization to teach the 10-hour and 30-hour Cal/OSHA Outreach Program.
March 7, 2022 | Virtual, Instructor-Led (Zoom)
In-Person Classes: Physical distancing and other safety guidelines are followed in all In-Person classes, and class sizes are reduced.
Proof of vaccination status is required for In-Person Classes. See Course Policy
In Region IX OSHA numbered Virtual, Instructor-Led classes offered via Zoom are only available to participants located in California, Arizona, Nevada, Hawaii, Guam, American Samoa and the Northern Mariana Islands. Contact us if you are unsure if this applies to you.

All OSHA Outreach Training workbooks can be ordered by emailing Jenifer Leigh at jleigh@clpccd.org or by calling (925) 416-5161. (Phone inquiries answered within 24 hours)
All 10-hour and 30-hour reports must be submitted electronically. Trainers must register in the portal in order to submit reports. The registration process takes only a few minutes – be sure to have JPEG images or PDF scans of the front and back side of your trainer card ready to upload.

The OSHA Training Institute Education Center at Chabot-Las Positas Community College District offers high quality OSHA standards-based training for construction, maritime, disaster site and general industries in Northern, Central and Southern California, Nevada, Arizona, Hawaii, Guam, American Samoa and the Northern Mariana Islands.

OSHA classes are offered as Virtual Instructor-Led Training via Zoom and also In-Person in select locations following physical distancing and other strict COVID-19 safety guidelines. In-person class sizes are reduced in size, so early registration is strongly advised.
