OUTREACH Prayer Update
May 2015
-
-
Our church planters depend on the prayers and encouragement of God's people. OUTREACH NORTH AMERICA provides this monthly prayer letter to inform you of some of their specific needs and praises so you will know better how to pray for them. Thank you for your prayers and the interest you show by your phone and e-mail responses. Your prayers truly encourage your church planters. (See the bottom of this e-mail for a summary of all the mission churches included in this update.)

Pray
- Please pray a number of people who we have been building relationships with and sharing the gospel who seem to be retreating from us.
- Pray in particular for Ronnie who is going through a season of real discouragement. He wants to become a member of the church but he feels he is unworthy.
- Pray for Jay and his daughter- that having professed faith he would bear fruit in keeping with repentance. Jay in particular has been pulling back and we long for him to return.
- Pray for Angel, Adam and Stan- that they would come back to us. They have all heard the gospel on numerous occasions and all of them have been to church, but they all have spent time in prison and they are hesitant to come regularly to church.
- Pray for Emily who for a long time listened to Jehovah’s Witness teaching. She has been allowing us to visit with her, she sees the difference between the two ways of salvation and she seems to be rejoicing in the true gospel of our Lord Jesus. She was thrilled the other day to receive a Bible. Pray that she would continue to grow in her knowledge of the gospel and that she would come to church.
- Pray for Chris and Michelle who were recently married in our church. They both come from abusive homes. They are expecting a child and Children's Aid Society will be taking the child away from them when it is born because they have been deemed unfit to parent. Chris has already lost children because of a criminal past. They are grieving and need a great deal of support. They to church every week and they are growing in their knowledge of the Savior and they want to serve Him. Pray, too, for us as a church that we may know how to support them. They are asking for someone in the congregation to adopt their child. We want to do what our Savior would have us do in this situation.
- Pray for Shawn and his wife. They are another couple we met going door to door. In God's providence, we came on a night when they were in crisis. We were able to give them some practical help, which has taken them by surprise. They say will start coming to church.
- We give thanks to God for answered prayer. We have seen the congregation almost double in the last four months and we realize it is His doing. Our desire, however, is to see many more brought into the kingdom. We have been able to make contacts with many in the community but we are praying that the Lord would turn their hearts and grant to them the gift of repentance.

Prayer and Praise
- We are so grateful to see how the Lord has given many of our people an evangelistic responsibility for their neighbors, who are for the most part, un-churched. They are hosting book clubs, BBQs, and driveway tailgate parties. One of those driveway parties celebrated the birthday of one of our regulars with her entire neighborhood--all un-churched. Her name is Sally and she has just been diagnosed with a very rapid growing cancer. She's known for her great love for the Lord and her neighbors.
- Another couple, Dirk and Shirley, have two book clubs in their home. The membership is all un-churched, and they are extremely loyal to their groups. The reading matter is provocative stuff designed to get their neighbors thinking.
- Praise the Lord with us as we continue to thank Him for our Sunrise Resurrection Service on the beach. About 75 un-churched folks were there with us. Early that morning around 5:00, I was down at the beach setting up with a couple of our guys, making a big bond fire, and planting a large cross fashioned for the occasion. We could not find the cross anywhere. So we had the service without the cross, and I was a little put out by it, as I like to point at a cross while preaching about the cross. One of our entrepreneurs fashioned a cross out of the big pieces of the firewood, and it sufficed. After the service, a couple came up to me and said, "We know where your cross is." Here is the story:
-
On Saturday two little boys about 8 and 9, were seen carrying this huge cross up our street. We heard one of them say to the other, “Well, he carried the cross for us, and so we can carry the cross for him.” I did not know what to say then, but just as I began asking them about themselves, a man came up to me and pointed out a man by the fire, and said, "That's the father of the two boys who stole our cross." Well, it turns out that the two boys have a grandfather who is dying in his home with hospice care, and the boys thought the cross would do him a world of good up there at the house. To make a long story short, we have engaged in a little ministry with that household since that Easter morning. The elderly gentleman loves that cross-- he can see it out his bedroom window.
- I do want to thank folks for praying with us. I have buried my Mama since the last prayer note went out, for which we thank the Lord. We know where she is! Halelujah!
- We've also just been informed that our meeting site/facility is under contract to be sold. We are scrambling now to find a place. Would you pray that our "scramble" takes on a more manly response, as in an orderly, prayerful search?

Praises
- We are seeing new guests come and stick at our morning worship services.
- On Saturday I had the opportunity to marry two young believers, from very dark backgrounds, who have found new life and hope in Christ!
- We are seeing more people step-up and be the church – from helping with set-up/break-down (internal church needs), to reaching out to their neighbors and strangers!
-
Pray
- We realize this is a year that we need to see significant growth (over the next six months). Pray for Christ to build His Church, as we labor for Him!
- Pray for several of our members who are new believers to take solid next-steps in their growth in Christ. It is an exciting time, but we want to see people continue to grow strong, so that they may be fruitful in serving Jesus!
- Pray that I might have wisdom to make the best use of our time and resources as we try to be faithful in this church planting venture. I long to see us not only plant Renew Church, but be part of a movement of what Christ is doing in the Fort Myers/Lee County area.
