OUTREACH Prayer Update
December 2015
-
-
Our church planters depend on the prayers and encouragement of God's people. OUTREACH NORTH AMERICA provides this monthly prayer letter to inform you of some of their specific needs and praises so you will know better how to pray for them. Thank you for your prayers and the interest you show by your phone and e-mail responses. Your prayers truly encourage your church planters. (See the bottom of this e-mail for a summary of all the mission churches included in this update.)
-
-
In general
- Pray for us this Christmas season to celebrate the gift of Christ to us and to "make the most of every [this] opportunity to proclaim the Gospel." (Col. 4:5)
- Pray for the Christmas services in our church plants.

Pray
- For a lady named Emily who is the superintendent at the local boarding house. She has come to faith in Jesus but is anxious in crowds and so has not yet come to church. Pray that her desire for church would be greater than her fear. Pray also for her family who has visited our church and that they would come back.
- For Jay and Ronnie who used to come faithfully to church through the outreach efforts of the church. Both are struggling and neither currently attending church. Pray for Ronnie's brother who is extremely hostile to the gospel. Pray that his heart would be softened and broken.
- For Adam. He has a very broken and criminal past. He comes occasionally to church but feels his sins are too great to be pardoned. Pray for conversion.
- For the door-to-door evangelism. Numbers have allowed us to share the gospel and many have expressed an interest in coming to church, though few have yet come. Pray that many would be saved. Pray in particular for a gay young man who listened carefully as we spoke of his need for the Savior.
- For open doors and hearts at the boarding house.
- For the preaching at Faith Presbyterian Church-- that it would be in demonstration of spirit and power.
-
Give thanks
- For continued growth in our congregation. Pray that we would grow in our love for the Lord Jesus and our passion for lost souls.
- For Tony who has been hostile to the gospel but is softening.

Pray
- For the conversation we are having with the new YMCA. We are hoping to be able to meet in their new facility located in a new sub-development in Rock Hill.
- Pray for our worship leader to find a job in the Charlotte area. He is a mass communication major from Winthrop. He graduates in December. We hope to keep him in this area. His name is Matthew.
- Pray for our year-end fundraising efforts. Pray that the Lord would meet all of our needs according to His riches in Christ Jesus.
-
Praise
- The Lord for bringing a new family of 4 to us. The mom grew up in Pakistan and she is a new believer. She is starving for fellowship. She has been to every event we've had in the past 2 weeks. The dad may not know the Lord. Pray for his salvation.
- We are thankful for the financial and prayer support of our 3 parenting churches.

Praises
- Our discipleship process, x-cell-erate, is taking off. We are seeing people begin to seriously engage those around them, becoming aware of their need for Christ as well as their own responsibility to reach out to them.
- We recently had a woman share her testimony with us. Since coming to Renew, she has left a background of emptiness and searching (in New Age material, etc.). The concluding statement of her testimony was that since she came to Christ, “I know I will never be empty again.” What a testimony!
- We are personally digging deeper relationally into the lives of some people we have been praying for and trying to reach for quite some time. We are seeing God crack open hearts that were, formerly, pretty hard.
-
Prayer Requests
- Our funding from ONA and Presbytery’s Church Extension ends in December. Pray for Steve to be able to secure employment that will make up the gap between what we currently receive and our needs.
- Pray for our friends at RaceTrac who are showing increased openness to the Gospel. Specifically, pray for Ami, Veronica, and Dee. Pray for increased openness from our friends Jim and Gail.
- We have an opportunity to expand our outreach to Horizons (government housing). The Director of the Housing Authority of Fort Myers is checking to see if we might be able to secure and apartment on-site to be used for mentoring, tutoring, classes, and Bible Study. Pray that we may be able to secure this apartment and for someone to live in it with a link to us and the ministry at Horizons.
