OUTREACH Prayer Update
October 2015
-
-
Our church planters depend on the prayers and encouragement of God's people. OUTREACH NORTH AMERICA provides this monthly prayer letter to inform you of some of their specific needs and praises so you will know better how to pray for them. Thank you for your prayers and the interest you show by your phone and e-mail responses. Your prayers truly encourage your church planters. (See the bottom of this e-mail for a summary of all the mission churches included in this update.)

-
In general
- Praise for a great Korean pastors retreat in September.
- Prayer for the Church Planter Assessment Center (CPAC) this week. We are assessing four candidate couples.
- Prayer for our church planting training.
- Prayer for all the presbytery meetings over the next few weeks.
- Prayer for the churches involved in Dare to Dream initiatives in their churches.
- Prayer for churches seeking pastors.
- Prayer for the refugees fleeing persecution and war.
- Synod encourages each presbytery and congregation of the denomination to participate in an Annual Day of Prayer Against Oppression, to encourage other Christian congregations and denominations to join with our congregations in the same private and/or public undertaking. ONA would encourage you to join us in praying against oppression on Sunday, October 18.

Pray
- For the work of outreach and evangelism. One man from our church now has a weekly Bible study going with a few un-churched men studying Romans; I am striving to meet people to witness of God and Christ. Pray the Lord will bless these to his glory.
- Pray we do not become discouraged in dealing with people. Disinterest, rejection, and lack of commitment from people have all been experienced even in these very early days, and we do not want these things to dissuade us from continuing the effort of reaching people in Christ.
- Pray for the Lord's grace to accomplish the sale of the Carter's house in New Minas, NS. May he release this burden from us.
-
Praise
- Praise God we have begun our Sunday worship services. Thus far we have had two families other than our core family attend. Pray we remain encouraged in these early days as people do check us out; and that we do not lose focus of God's glory in worship. Though we are few, the Lord in his wonderful grace is with us.

Pray
- For our neighborhood movie night. We deeply desire to be a church that does good things to and for our community.
- Pray for wisdom concerning whether or not the church should be organized (a presbytery term that means a self-sufficient, locally governed body).
- Pray for our funding during this up coming year.
- Pray for our ladies' and men's fellowship groups as they seek to gather and perfect the saints.

Pray
- Please pray for our leadership retreat this Saturday, October 3. May the Lord use this in a big way to get us to think strategically, with a Kingdom focus.
- Our people need prayer for all sorts of things. One of our company is facing a serious surgery on October 5 at Chapel Hill Medical Center. One of our ladies has been battling cancer bravely-- and she and the Lord are doing well with it.
- Our women's Bible study begins again this week. Pray for our leader and the material to get into hearts. Our manly Bible study and prayer meetings always needs prayer too. Pray with us that both the men and women's groups can engage some neighbors from outside our circles.
- We have two neighborhood outreach groups with un-churched folks coming. Please pray that these may be effective to reach many for Christ's sake.
- Thank you for praying with us!

Pray
- We have several families with young children who have started attending our church recently. We ask that you pray that they would become connected and involved at Christ Community Church.
- We ask for pray for our Small Group Ministries. We pray that God would raise up leaders and that more people would become involved in small groups.
- We ask for your prayers for our youth group. It has grown under the leadership of our Church Planting Intern, Brooks Pipher, but his internship is complete and we pray that the youth group will continue to be healthy and growing with new leadership.
- We ask for your prayers for our worship service. We will complete our transition back to one worship service in October. We previously had two different worship services with two different styles of music.
-
Praise
- We are grateful for Brooks and Amanda Pipher, who did a great job ministering at Christ Community Church during their Church Planting Internship.
- Leaders for ministries are emerging and God is working in the hearts of his people.
- For God's continual faithfulness!
- Thanks so much for allowing us to share these prayer requests!

Praise
- We have 9 people, not including Rachel and me, who have begun the discipleship process that we use called X-cell-erate. What a great group of people. This is a high-commitment process and we are already seeing some changes and results!
- We are seeing people move from simply attending to being strongly committed and in leadership roles. This means our vision for reaching and changing the community is beginning to take root in attenders!
- We are highly encouraged by stories we hear of people engaging their neighbors and others with the Gospel – this is what we are praying would begin!
-
Pray
- Our funding from ONA and Florida Presbytery will officially end December 1. We are not at a point where we can sustain ourselves. We can pay for part-time staff (worship), facility rental, and ministry needs but not me. We are looking at contacting several people about stepping up individual support for one year. The other option is for me to secure employment, which I would be fine with, but it would divert my attention significantly.
- We are seeing the enemy step up attacks against some of our leaders. As they have become more firmly committed, events and circumstances – from health to family issues – have seemed to become more distracting and intense. Please pray with us that our leaders will know Christ’s protection in every area of their lives!
- We are doing what we can to bump momentum at Renew Church – mailings, website “tweaks”, social media, etc. Pray that God will bring people in whom He is at work!
