THANK YOU!
Our hearts are filled with gratitude! CARES first-ever Grateful Plate Full Dinner was a huge success, raising nearly $92,000 of the $300,000 annual budget needed to continue providing food and services to the 1300+ guests who rely on CARES each month.
Still more help is needed to find the additional $208,000 that will help local families, struggling to stretch their food budgets in the face of rising inflation. Our Grateful Plate Full Campaign, running ONLY for the month of November is aimed at finding the dollars we need to keep CARES running. Every donation, large or small, helps us help families during these difficult times. Here are a few examples of what your donation does:
- $60 donation gives a family of 3 enough food for 1 week, at their monthly visit.
- $125 donation provides a dozen fresh eggs and a gallon of milk for every family visiting CARES each month.
- $720 feeds a family of 3 for a week for the entire year
- $1000 feeds 33 families for a week for the year
Our costs for wholesale food are rising just like your family budget, and the need for food assistance is growing:
- Wholesale food costs are up 11%
- Protein costs are up 14%
- Wheat products are up 16%
By end of December:
- Children needing food - UP 63%
- Adults (excluding seniors) - UP 36%
- Senior Citizens - UP 30%
Yet CARES can continue to meet the growing demand for help in our communities with your generous donations. We’re asking you to dig deep. Help us to help the growing numbers of adults, seniors, and children in our community who are struggling to make ends meet. Please share this “ask” with everyone you know who might be willing to help. There is hidden hunger in our community. Let’s make this a “November to Remember” by sharing what we have with those who are in need by donating to CARES.
CARES, it’s what we do! Serving Oakland and Wayne Counties in the following communities: Farmington/Farmington Hills-Livonia-Clarenceville-Southfield-Redford Twp.-Northville-Novi-West Bloomfield
Sincerely,
