Last month I shared some visible changes coming  to our facility that you can anticipate.  Check in with the front desk if you missed that update on the new fitness equipment that's coming in December.

This month I want to share with you a focus of the Richmond District YMCA that you may not see as you experience the facility.  Each weekday approximately 200 youth grades K-12 are in the care of our Y staff team engaged in Youth Development programs.  The focus of our work with youth is centered in 5 areas:

  • Preparing to succeed academically
  • Practicing holistic and healthy habits
  • Preparing for collegiate and career success
  • Valuing and understanding a connection to nature
  • Actively contributing to a healthy community.
I share this information with you because it is a core part of the work of the Richmond District YMCA everyday and as a member of the Y, you are part of so much more than just a gym.  We hope you love your health and wellness experience at the Y, and we also hope you will love that you are part of a non-profit organization that is actively helping to raise the children of our neighborhood to reach their highest potential.

If you are interested in learning more about our work with youth our how to be more involved in the Y's work in the community, please reach out to me directly.  There is nothing I'd rather talk about!

Sincerely,
Andrew Ward
Executive Director
