Did This Put Her Out of Business?

I used to work with a large independent school supply store in a small town. They had a fantastic selection of educational items, but also had a large space devoted solely to toys.

Having been in business for over 20 years, this store was a destination for folks up to an hour away.

The owner and the store manager were experts in both school supplies and toys, and their customers valued their great wealth of knowledge.

As happens with business owners, there is always the desire to keep growing. An opportunity presented itself. Less than 100 yards away, a good sized space at a very reasonable rent opened up.

Not only did she have to close the Dollar Store, but her school supply store/toy store that she had for over 20 years, was forced to close as well. The failure of the Dollar Store so greatly impacted her core business, that she lost both stores.
