Thursday, March 14, 2024 - Our Stories

Dear Friends in Christ,

Last night we concluded Anna Floch Arcello's "Composing Our Stories" Lenten program. Writing has enormous power for healing, and the 25 of us who participated were encouraged to go back into some of the difficult moments or seasons of our lives and to get our memories, thoughts, and feelings onto the page. If you were not able to attend, Anna works with individuals (and small groups) who want to explore all kinds of writing.

As the ground softens from today's rain and we begin to edge towards a new season, I'm reminded of this particular poem she shared from Lucille Clifton.  A prolific and widely respected poet, Lucille Clifton’s work emphasizes endurance and strength through adversity, focusing particularly on African-American experience and family life.

spring song

the green of Jesus

is breaking the ground

and the sweet

smell of delicious Jesus

is opening the house and

the dance of Jesus music

has hold of the air and

the world is turning

in the body of Jesus and

the future is possible

May you know Christ's healing light even in the darkest corners of your own story,

Seth+

Family Stations of the Cross Hike on Holy Saturday March 30th -- 10:30am

Walking the Stations of the Cross is a powerful way to reflect on the passion of Christ during Holy Week. Introduce your kids to this ancient practice by hiking the Stations of the Cross at Holy Hill Basilica. A paved, mostly stroller-friendly trail winds through hills and woods, taking participants through all 14 stations. We'll enjoy nature and friendship while taking time to stop at each station for a brief, kid-friendly reflection.

Please RSVP to Bailey Steger by Sunday, March 24 to gauge interest and numbers, and indicate what time of day (morning or afternoon) works best for your family.

Handing Down the Faith Sundays

Designed to encourage deeper understanding

of and more engagement with the liturgy for children. The clergy will offer brief explanations and invite children to participate and observe in specific ways. All children of any age and ability are welcome to participate as they feel comfortable.

First it was reduce, second was reuse, now it is recycleYou may already recycle, but consider...

Coke vs. Pepsi!? No... Aluminum vs. Plastic.

Aluminum is more recyclable than plastic and you can still get the flavor you want. On average, 2 out of 3 aluminum cans used, are recycled. An aluminum can recycled today will be back on the grocery in about 90 days.

We Need Your Help

Date to be announced

The fluorescent bulbs are due to be replaced in all the basement classrooms soon. Only bulbs need replacing.

We are looking for volunteers to help install the new LED lights.

Contact Ira Leidel or Jim Benton if you'd like to help!

LED bulbs will help the Church reduce it's carbon foot print too!
